One of the Best Preamp ever!!

My firts "preamp" was a POD and it sounded good, but when I heard the JMP1 for the first live I was just... blowned away!!!Change to Marshall the same night!!!! I think it made me a new guitar player!! If you like that 80's Hard Rock Tone the JMP1 is probably the most versatile and powerfull preamp in the world... Remember, it's not a Mesa (The new rectifiers...) but if you really want that REAL, SCREAMING Hard Rock Tone THIS IS THE PREAMP!!! I own one and I would buy it again and again.

I love this preamp through my Boogie Simul-Class 2:90. Killer crunch and cleans, but you need a good power section or this will sound average. I've played this through a Carvin SS and it didn't do it justice. It can be a little noisy, even for a Marshall. It does JMP and JTM sounds well but dont expect to get the whole catalog. And what is the deal with the price??? This thing has doubled in $$$ since it was originally introduced. Not really justified. For a little more your in Bogner land. Overall though if dig classic Marshall tone this is the preamp for you.

The Marshall JMP-1 is the heart of my guitar rig and sound, I put a pair of RFT tubes and sounds amazing. This is by far the best guitar preamp.

I run this through an all tube power amp (mesa to be exact). I love this amp. Big Marshall sound that cuts through the mix! You want the Mesa sound? Buy a Mesa. I've heard people speak poorly about the cleans on this, I don't know why, You want fender cleans? Buy a ....you guessed it but the cleans on this puppy are chimey. I get great jangly 3 demensional tones as well. I can pull off Greenday to U2 in one move. Not exact of course but close enough for the drunk guy in the front row not to notice. Extremely versitile. Get a great eq, do a little tweaking and you wont be disapointed. BOTTOM LINE.. this preamp gives you an opportunity to sound like you!

I have owned a JMP-1 for about 7 years, and it's an INCREDIBLE sounding preamp. I didn't really use the clean tones much, as I'm a metal/rock/alternative guitar player, but the overdrive/distortion tones are AWESOME! I have owned a few Marshall amps over the years, and this thing does have that Marshall sound, BUT, you can't get that sound unless you run this thing into a tube "head". The rack mount Marshall tube power amp that was designed to go with this preamp just doesn't work well. I was running my JMP-1 preamp straight into a Marshall Super Lead Plexi, and THAT is an incredible sound! Now as far as Mashall saying that you can recreate the sound of ANY Marshall with this preamp, sorry, that statement is COMPLETE BS. As far as overdrive/distortion is concerned, this preamp give you two totally different overdrive sounds that are fully adjustable, which is good, but that's it. It's like owning two totally different Marshall heads, and you can instantly switch between those two sounds. As far as recording with this thing, it DOES NOT sound good! I am a recording studio ownner, and a POD, Johnson J-station, or Behringer V-amp sounds MUCH MUCH better for direct recording.
