The Vexter Fuzz Factory from ZVex is a 5-knob fuzz pedal with 2 NOS '60s germanium transistors, and it comes in a hand-polished aluminum chassis with hand-silkscreened, 2-color text. Though the circuit isn't modeled after any one specific classic fuzz, it delivers tones straight out of the 1960s. These 5 knobs control the Fuzz Factory's parameters at various operating levels, letting you shape your own personalized fuzz effect. ZVex designed the Fuzz Factory to consume less energy than other effects pedals. When on, the Fuzz Factory's current is less than 3 mA. This fuzz pedal is hand-painted and assembled, and each is unique.

Fuzz Factory Controls

Volume: Output level
Gate: Squelches noise after end of sustain. Turn to the right to eliminate squeals, hiss, and buzz, stopping just as they disappear, or use to tune in exact feedback pitch. Turning to the left opens gate.
Compress: Adds attack characteristic when turned to the left, which gets softer to right, and suddenly pinches tone when all the way right. Also tunes in fat, feedbacky fuzz. Lower the Stability and see what happens to this control.
Drive: Increases distortion when used as a "normal" fuzz and adjusts feedback pitch and tonal thickness.
Stability: Use to control feedback pitch. This is one of the more finicky controls, so it will take some experimentation to get it right.

The Indispensable Fuzz Factory

The ZVex Fuzz Factory is by far the most versatile fuzz on the market. Although numerous artists currently use the FF it is very easy to dial in "your tone". But if you are looking to recreate some current generation fuzz tones (Muse, The White Stripes, etc.) you will definitely fine a wealth of different fuzz options. This product holds up under any condition, battery-life is astounding. Be warned this pedal is not for the faint of heart, you may be able to dial in some older fuzz tones but the FF is not modeled after any other fuzz it is in a league of its own

This is my first ZVEX pedal and it won't be my last. These guys know their stuff. When I first plugged my pedal in I got a nasty squeal. Why?? because I did what every man does and not read the manual. After reading the manual I fell in love with this. I have all high praises for ZVEX. Good job Guys!

Veritable Factory of Fuzziness!

The Fuzz Factory is, by far, the most insane and versatile fuzz pedal you will find today. By that, I don't mean that you'll be able to dial in the exact fuzz sound as other famous pedals (and it shouldn't have to, it's not a modeling pedal), but you still have a ton of options with what it has to offer. You can go from a smooth and creamy old-school fuzz sound to an insane high-end modern rock sound with just a few tweaks of the knobs. And these knobs are infinitely tweakable, and the number of settings and sounds people have found with just this one pedal is truly mind-boggling. I personally have found that it does interact well with some overdrive/distortion pedals running before it in the signal chain, and I actually prefer this sound to just the Fuzz Factory alone. But even by itself, this pedal sounds amazing. It's also built solid with a nice mirror-ish finish that takes up almost no space on a pedalboard. The only downside (and some people actually like this aspect), is that this pedal is very noisy when engaged and sometimes likes to pick up faint radio signals as well! But, whatever, I can live with that. There's a reason why Matt Bellamy of MUSE has this pedal built-in to many of his custom Manson guitars! Well worth the price, and awesome fuzzzzzzzzzzzz!

One of the most versatile fuzz boxes out there. Matt Bellamy of Muse has these built into his guitars and me being a huge fan of Muse had to get one. When I found out that the store was finally selling Zvex pedals I went there and just bought one. It's a really good pedal and it never let me down. Buy one!

Absolutely insane

I went to a nearby music store, in search of the Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz Face I have been looking for for months. It (of course) was not there, but they had a couple other fuzzes there I had not tried, so I decided to give them a shot. I tried the Fulltone Octafuzz, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and then the worker suggested this little unit.

This pedal is A LOT of fun. It is, however, very, VERY confusing and difficult to work with. Although oscillation and feedback abounds, I could not get a conventional fuzz tone out of it. Keep in mind, I had no manual, and only messed with this thing for about ten minutes. I'm sure it is possible, but it should be a little easier than it was.

Now, for the important thing: the TONE. This thing, when playing, sounds fantastic. But, as soon as your guitar stops sending a signal through it, there are squeals and screams that are, through my experimentation with it, unavoidable.

Overall, I thought this was a cool pedal. I was looking for a much more traditional fuzz, but I could see the appeal this pedal could have for the wilder people out there.
