A Special Classical Guitar

This guitar has been in my collection for about 2 years and I’ll never part with it. Extremely versatile. I practice quietly with headphones on right in the family room while others are watching the tube. How cool is that?!? It has 2 reverb selections available as well as Aux In if you want to play along to an MP3 or drum track. I recorded with this axe going direct into my computer EMU1212 soundcard via an ART Tube preamp to give it some boost. Results were pretty good considering that nylon string is difficult to record with anyway. I also have an Alvarez –Yari at twice the cost and no electronics, so I’m limited with the traditional classical having a microphone at the sound hole. The SLG100N gave me wings! A tune is posted using this guitar on Pi Thor Jam site called Tina Marie. For playing live, watch out! It’s very good and more professionals are starting to use this instrument due to ease of set-up with PA systems and reverb warmth is at the touch of a switch. It’s portable and silent when you want it to be, recording with decent results is possible, and patched to an amp or PA... you’ll find some satisfaction. Quality is very good on this instrument. I also own a Yamaha 12 string, which is still holding up compared to my warped Martin. This guitar is versatile in many ways and a keeper.

Great nylon string guitar

I saw a classical artist use one of these in a Christmas show last year. Was very impressed by the sound. Was looking for something to replace my Ibanez classical. Found the quality to be outstanding, the action of the neck is very nice and the electronics very good. Havent had any problems with sustain, just adjust the tone controls a bit. I turn the reverb off and use the reverb in the amp, on my footpedal and PA.. a cheap 9 volt battery is lasting me easily over a month. Just unplug it when not using it. This is a quality instrument. i recently used it in some recording and just did a live gig using it wiht a new song i wrote. The comments i got from the audience later were off the chart. It does create a cool visual for your performance. and it does play very nice. This guitar has now been added to my live gig arsenal...and is one of 4 guitars I always use.

Unhappy with the sound quality

The SLG-100N would be a fantastic guitar if the sound was at least good. It is not. The "sustain" is so long that I can leave the room, get a coffee, and it would still be sounding when I return. I returned mine to Yamaha, they claimed they fixed it, but it still has a much too long sustain. For this reason, I can not recommend this guitar. I wish I could, because I like the concept and construction of this guitar.

Very surprised with this instrument. I gig regularly with my modified acoustic but I'm thinking of selling it now and getting this instead. This is much more compact, lighter and sounds every bit as good. Sound is great, feel is great, just very happy with the whole thing.

I bought this guitar after hearing a friend of mine playing one at a concert, you can pretty much plug this guitar into any amp and still get a great classical acoustic sound, of course if you use a acoustic amp it just enhances the sound, I love it!
