I'm a longtime serious guitarist and have been a luthier/repair guy for many years. I knew Yamaha products were good, and that Yamaha always did their homework in order to be competitive, but I was pleasantly surprised by this instrument. I don't have a lot of money to spend on guitars these days, and I've recently sold off all of my vintage guitars on eBay to pay bills, etc. I've been looking for a decent guitar for two or three years that I could afford, and most of them were junk---even the ones that were out of my price range. I've been a Musician's Friend customer for a long time, and I thought I'd cruise the web site and peruse the Yamahas. Along with a 20% off coupon I received in the mail, I got a great deal on the 735S. After setting it up, I'm telling you that this guitar is all I need. It outperforms many guitars that cost cost far more. Yamaha's quality control is really good, too. This guitar is a steal, and I'm a very critical player with very good ears. Mine arrived with a very bright and beautiful cherry sunburt finish, and it;s a joy to behold.

This guitar sounded so much better than he inexpensive martins and taylors. Excellent bass response, wonderful high end. Midrange is present. Projection is great. You cant beat this for the price. If you are considering a cheap martin, or taylor, think twice!

This is only my third acoustic steel strings guitar and so far the best. I've had an inexpensive Fender and a CC057 Ovation Celebrity. May not be fair to compare a Shallow body like my Ovation to this guitar but the diffrence is really big. This is one of those guitars that sounds so nice, sweet and loud that is hard to put down. Excellent for creating new music since every new idea sounds amazing through this guitar. I copared this to a Taylor running in the high 900.00 and they were pretty darn close. Whit such a quality instrument, I don't think I will be buying any other acoustic, even if I had money to waste. I would waste my money in something else cause I love this guitar. Like everything, try it before you buy it and get convinced. I did.

I really like this acoustic, everything about it's great. The sound, the action, the look, everything, it's just an all around great acoustic, and best of all it's at a really fair price.

you do get what you pay for. this guitar has a slick neck (kinda smooth and silky like my ibanez prestige) and has a nice, reverberating tone. only *major* problem I had is the low E string plastic bridge peg got stuck when I was re-stringing the guitar and the head of the peg broke off. now I don't have a low E string as the base of the peg is stuck in the bridge of the guitar (and won't come out!). this hasn't happened to any other acoustic guitar I've ever owned. looks very nice in person.
