OK, but not great!

It's an OK guitar, not great. Overpriced, I think, for what you get. I'm a builder myself, know about construction and all. This one plays easily, sound good with the amp because it's got a nice pickup system. Without the amp, it loses its voice. Pretty thing, though. Typical Chinese made, and that's a little disappointing.

The Yamaha CGX171 runs for years it has been considered the finest selection in its price range. The CGX171 uses both a piezo pickup and a condenser microphone you can phase to create a variety of sounds. Yamaha includes a sound hole cover you can insert to reduce feedback when necessary. In the future, an onboard tuner would make a nice addition. Serious, accomplished guitarists have always considered the CGX171 to have the richest sound in its price range. Its natural, clean and ideal for studio recording. If you’re looking for a less sophisticated more hot wired sound you should select the less expensive Cordoba C5-CE or the Washburn C104s. Those guitars can also provide a real punch when using a lower end amplifier. However, if you’re a real purist stick with the Yamaha. The fit and finish are flawless. The top is solid cedar with rosewood back and sides. The action is ideal and the playability is suburb. I give this guitar high marks across the board not that its the best classical guitar in the market. Its just the best in its price range and thats all that matters.

Thin sound, fun to play

This instrument is very well put together and is quite beautiful. I am glad I own it. I bought this guitar to leave out and around. There is a lot grade inflation in these reviews. The truth is the guitar sounds a little thin. Compared to a real Classical guitar this thing sounds no good. It's a fun hybrid instrument. I like the sound plugged in.

well, when I first decided to look for a guitar, I had a few, to say the least, definite expectations that I was looking for. It had to be cheap and it had to have a full body sound unpluged and pluged, since I was looking for a classical I new I had my work cut out for me. It took buying and returning three so called reputible classicals to find this one. Imediatly when I played it I knew it was the one for my heavy low end styel of playing classical riffs to match my crisp styel of singing. In my opinion this is the guitar for every acoustic singer song writer out there, because of it,s amazing vesatilaty!

Fantastic acoustic, a littele to be concerned elec

I have bought this guitar, because it is difficult to get the specs (a little narrower neck than an ordinary classic, a little lower action and a truss rod in the neck) in Denmark, where I live. In fact it is hard to come across a guitar like this little baby at all. And it is a fantastic little baby, even if made in China, and the ebony fingerboard looks more like rosewood to me. It has a very well balanced sound for a guitar in this price range. I owe a gorgeus handbuilt Hopff guitar from 1973 - it has been with me for the most of my playing life - and my new acoustic/electric do not trail too far behind it. However there are some things to be considered, when it comes to the electric sound, The preamp are not very powerfull. I have to use a preamp, when I plug it in my Fender Acoustasonic Junior, or else I don't get enough power. But it is a minor thing. It sounds better than anything I have tried before - and believe me, that's much. I am really picky with my sound, and this guitar is the best I ever tried in this price range.
