unreliable and overpriced

I bought this amp about 3 years ago because i was inexperienced and didnt know what i wanted. It was an okay amp at first but i soon found myself having to fix little things like shorts and and even a transformer at one point. On top of that it was incredibly unreliable for live performances. I played 3 shows with it and during every one of them something went wrong where my settings got lost or just messed up. As far as the tone i was not impressed either. It is extremely hard to get a true clean sound because every amp model has some crunch to it. The only models that i did like were the AC15 and the AC30TB which were both for sorta crunchy rock type stuff. Other than that the heavy distortion and clean were both horrible. the effects are ok but they are not very versatile. And the fact that there are only two channels to store settings on makes it hard if you're switching between effects. Overall i would say that this is just a horrible amp and there are better amps out there in this price range. I play metal mostly but I am experienced in other types of music as well and I can think of very few styles where this would be a good choice.

I've been practicing with the amp for a couple years. It is extremely loud for a 50 watt amp...the tone isn't so crisp though on its own, sure it has different tones and effects, but they all seems so similar and useless. It has a nice tone for metal but not much for anything else.

Great amp for gigs!

I have a Marshall head, a sweet peavy classic power amp, a rack of effects and two cabintes for stereo sound. I am 45 and it gets tiring lugging that beast around. Anyway I got a call to reunite with old band mates to play a 6 song gig for another bandmate's birthday. I did not want to bring my huge rig, especially for 6 songs. My buddy had this Vox, said I could borrow it and said it sounds really good and light. I jumped on it. As we played the gig I could not believe how great this amp sounded. Effects are nice, two sounds can be switced which is why I gave it a 4.5 but so what? This amp is killer! After the gig I could not stop thinking about it, went to the music store the next day and bought it. It sounds like tubes, it is partial tubes, partial amp models and it is loud as hell, light and now my huge rig stays home and just has practice with the guys while my Vox goes to all gigs. Get this amp you will not be let down! The price for this is really reasonable too!

Peter.

I've had this little amp for not quite 2 years and it has blown a circuit board. At the price they go for they're not worth repairing so look for something that will will last even if you pay more. The low price does not represent a good value.

I just bought this amp today, and I'm extremely impressed with it. The effects are awesome, although I wish it came with a footswitch to control them a little more; however, that's no biggie. I've yet to really crank it up, suburbs aren't a great place to jam, but if you crank all 50 watts it's hard to keep quiet with the master control almost off. Great, warm clean tones, deep, crunchy distortion.. I definitely recommend this amp, whether you're looking to expand from a beginners amp or looking for a small gig piece.
