The rock-solid, no-compromise, all-tube VOX head for the musician on the go.
Whether you're adding your hot sound to a late-night demo, sitting in at your favorite club, or jamming with friends, the Night Train NT15H is your new best friend. Whenever and wherever, the Vox Night Train will deliver that smooth and satisfying all-tube sound. You don't want to choose between killer sound and total convenience—with the Vox Night Train amp head you never will.
If Looks Could Kill
Solid enough to inspire confidence, Night Train weighs just under 17 pounds, and the "armored lunchbox" dimensions provide extreme portability. Finished with a cool chrome mirror-finish, the signature VOX diamond design reveals that inspiring vacuum-tube glow. And of course, the Night Train NT15H guitar amp includes its own padded carry case to protect your investment.
True Tube Power
The sound is pure VOX. Inside, a pair of EL84 tubes deliver on the tube power promise. Two 12AX7 tubes drive the preamp stage with both power and clarity. This is the same winning tube complement as the classic VOX AC15. From chime-like clean tones to the warmest overdrive, there is no mistaking that harmonic richness of pure tube performance.
Dual Nature
The Vox Night Train's single switch lets you select between Pentode or Triode tube operation. In the Pentode mode, Night Train delivers a full 15 watts of power. In the Triode mode, the power is cut to 7.5 watts. The Triode mode also relaxes the tube power stage, letting that silky-smooth, mellow tube character shine through.
Preamp Pizzazz
Night Train greets you with a clear, simple panel design, offering the familiar Gain and Volume controls. The Tone controls include Treble, Middle and Bass, allowing you to dial up just the right character for your individual, signature tone. In addition, the preamp section features a mode switch, offering both Bright and Thick options. The Bright mode accentuates the high-frequency components for a clear, ringing tone; the Thick setting bypasses the tone circuit to boost the gain and create a chunkier, heavier sound.
Cabinet Convenience
Equipped with both 8- and 16-ohm speaker jacks, Night Train amp head can be used immediately with nearly any speaker cabinet. This extra measure of versatility is just one more example of why the Vox Night Train might be the one amp you never leave at home.
Vox Night Train NT15H 15W Guitar Amp Head Features:
Rock-solid, all-tube head made to travel
Uncompromising sound with 2 12AX7 preamp tubes and 2 EL84 power tubes.
Selectable Bright or Thick mode switch provides EQ and Gain variations for just the right tone

So, I bought the Night Train in November. The first time I turned it on, I couldn't have been happier. Everything from country to hard rock (no metal here) all in this amp (I would have liked a second channel, reverb, and an FX loop, but for the price, I can do without). That said, I turned it off and the next day, I went to play it again, and it blew a fuse as soon as I turned it on. I thought no big deal, so I simply replaced the fuse. The same thing happened again. So, I took it into my local repair shop, and the repair guy just put a new fuse in it and charged me fifty dollars. Two months later, I'm back to using my would-be backup amp, the Orange Tiny Terror, and am stuck with a Vox DUD. I would highly reccomend you look into other heads before buying this, the Egnater Rebel 30, the Orange Tiny Terror, and the Mesa/Boogie Trans-Atlantic in particular.

I've had my Night Train now for a few weeks and I love it more everyday. I'm playing through a Vox Heritage cabinet with a 1x12 Blue Alnico speaker. Thats one deadly combo. I can get such diverse tones out of it. Raw blues, silky jazz, hard rock and even some modern metal(with the volume really loud on thick) and everything in between. It also has the signature Vox chime.
Don't be fooled by the size, this little toaster is LOUD. I jam regularly with a full band and I sometimes have to play on the 7.5W setting(when the drummer is caged). It's great for home practice and you can get pretty warm sounds even on the lower volumes but of course the amp shines when you're pushing the tubes.
I play both a Strat and a Les Paul through it and both really shine. The humbuckers are notibly better than the single coils on the thick setting though.

The night train delivers amazingly warm "SRV" tube sounds. Flip the switch to thick and you have got a seriously juicy over-driven NATURAL distorion wich competes with amps double and triple its price..like usual vox delivers the good in sounds but lacks consumer catching featurs such as reverb and an effects loop which have become mainstream. Still for the clean channel alone this amp devours the Hot-rod series and is truly a juicy monster!

I tried this out at a local music store, plugging in a Thinline Tele. The tone was warm, and the gain/volume knobs make it easy to get a really good tone. I will most likely buy one. The only thing that I don't like about it is that there is no reverb or effects loop. I don't mind that there is no reverb so much, but I would like to place a verb petal after the preamp, rather than before.

Picked up the Night Train yesterday from Musicians Friend warehouse in KC. Plugged it in last night to the matching Cab and wow! This amp is very controllable. From the clear to the super dirty. I bought this to be able to play in my basement a bit more. (Peavey Delta Blues is TOO much when you get close to sound break up) This fits the bill very well. I looked at the AC4 but it was too limited for my wants/needs, it also sounded very small in comparison(which it is).I would recommend this product if you're looking for a great practice amp that will get plenty loud but doesn't need to be to still sound great. The matching Cab isn't as nice of a sound as the Marshall 4x10 that I tried it out on at the store. But you want light and easy to transport not a big 4x cab right!
My only problems with it are, no reverb and an effects loop would be nice.
I may upgrade the cab in the future to something with a "fuller" sound but hard to find and still keep the weight down. Also may need to be looking at a new Holy Grail from Musicians Friend.
If you're like me and really on the fence between the AC4 and the NT and you have the cash, go for the Night Train it really is worth the dough.
