Recaptures sought-after vintage and modern sounds in a powerful, versatile, and extremely musical pedal design.
Drawing on Joe Satrianis knowledge accumulated from decades of groundbreaking performances, both live and in the studio, VOX unveils a breakthrough in guitar tone in The Satchurator distortion pedal. Designed to Satrianis exact specification, the Satchurator produces Satrianis signature tone and adds features and improvements never before combined in a distortion pedal.
After almost a year of painstaking experimentation and road testing, Satriani and the VOX R&D team discovered the secrets to capturing the ultimate distortion tone in a modern-day effects pedal. The Vox Satchurator is capable of very high gain levels, but operates more quietly and musically than many other modern distortion pedals. It also preserves the tone and pick attack regardless of style, while providing distortions from subtly distorted blues tones through classic rock and shred.
"The Satchurator is the most musical, most dynamic, multi-function distortion pedal I've ever played through" says Satriani. "This little red box is a monster tone generator. Following my specifications without compromise, and adding design innovations I never thought possible, the VOX team has delivered exactly what I need for the stage and studio a distortion pedal that responds to my touch, and produces a big, natural, harmonically rich tone compatible with any guitar/pedal/amp configuration."

I am an active musician for many years, and up till now had never owned a distortion pedal. Most of what I have owned was either rack or floor integrated units. I have played around with friends pedals, boutique and otherwise, and am finding this pedal to be surprisingly "deep". I use the term "deep" to describe how one little shift of the gain or tone knob can truly change the overall color of the unit. Obviously this is not marketed nor geared toward any one specific style other than those seeking a very well made and thought out distortion pedal. Nice job, Vox, and good ears, Joe!

This pedal sounds fantastic. It is well built, and is very versitile. But to let you know what the pedal is like, you gotta know its history. Joe Satriani relied on a original JAPAN made Boss DS-1 for his sound for years. There is no doubt that the Boss pedals from Japan were far superior to todays Korean made ones. So that is what Joe used as his starting point for the Satchurator. A vintage Boss DS-1. But since it was designed from the ground up, he made some very nice improvements. It has a fuller sound than any DS-1 you could buy today. And it is way more sensative. Plus having the "more" switch gives you some very nice versatility. Also the tone knob is unbelievably sensative. If you even move it a tiny bit you get HUGE differences in sound, so you can fine tune it very well. This pedal is like having a vintage ds-1 with more gain, more versatility, more tone shaping options, and better overall tone. That being said, I gave it a 3.5 in freatures only because Joe and VOX could have made it even more versatile if they had used a 3-band EQ instead of just an overall tone knob. Then you really could dial in ANY sound you want. Also the value I gave a 3.5 because I think that this pedal is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY overpriced. The truth is, yes it is FAR superior to a new DS-1, but its not almost a hundred dollars of difference. I got mine used, so I can't complain. But I would probobly reconsider if i had to buy it new. But overall, it is a fantastic, versitile pedal. And its built like a tank. So if you're like me and always loved the raw distortion of the DS-1, but wished it had a little more, than this is for you. Its everything I love about the DS-1 and nothing I dont, plus some nice new features. Check one out, every one should at least once.

I bought this a month ago. At first, I was ready to send it back-it produces no deep bass. I run a Marshall AVT 275 with 4 Celestions G12T100's that can rearrange your furniture. But I'll tell you what this pedal does do-It can clearly and articulately sustain any note or chord with the best purity I have ever heard. It will not beat or phase cancel with even dissonant chords. It will not get mushy or squirmy if you play fast and heavy. AND its unbelievably quiet. It is touch sensitive and changes character with different pickups, guitar types. I can plug in my 6120, lower the gain, and rip out some convincing Horton Heat or plug in my neck thru, crank the gain, turn the neck tone pot to zero, crank the weird Satchurator tone knob up and score some Gary Moore or Santana tones. Its not for everyone, but if you like rich, saturated tone that's true to how you play, I'd give it a try.

This distortion pedal is legit. You can go from a smooth bluesy lead tone to brutal metal riffs and squeals with the twist of a knob. Also, the tone knob unlike most other distortion stompboxes has an amazing range. This pedal in addition has a very nice feature of a PAD switch which really brings out the clarity of the pedal when its used in a chain with other effects. Get it. You will not be disappointed.

Don't be Fooled by all the positive reviews, try out this pedal before you purchase this. The output is extremely low for a distortion pedal, Which means no volume!!!! The distortion range is good from bluesy overdrive to a heavy crunch, however the tone knob only sounds good in a certain setting. The More button is pretty much worthless as the db boost is practically unnoticeable. Also the pad switch is worthless as well, probably made to pair with other Satriani VOX products. Overall I don't recommend this pedal!
