Sounds Great But Will It Last?

I purchased the AC30CCH. I love the sounds I get from this amp. I own several vintage Fenders, a newer Fender, vintage Ampeg and a newer Ampeg, and all are built very well for years of service and sound great. After only about 15 hrs of use the Tolex is starting to peal off the VOX. I am guessing its caused by the build up of heat from the tubes and the very small vents. I contacted service and they are giving me the run around,Something about no warrentee on "COSMETICS" I'm not done with them yet. I hope they do the right thing.I was hoping to get many years of use from a VOX as I have from my Fenders and Ampegs. I'm very dissapointed in the fit and finish.

I bought this amp because I read about it and researched it pretty well I thought. When it arrived and I hooked it up I was very dissapointed in it's sound and lack of sweet tube sound and you couldn't natural compression that makes the tube amp tone so wonderful. I was able to retube it and make it sound alot better and I should have known to have done that right off the bat from all the other tube amps I own which usually come with so so cheap tubes. JJs sound good in it and also a combination of old 60s Mullard 12ax7s I had really sweetened it up. Next stop, speakers. I tried vin 30s, Jensens, Tech 21s out of one of their amps that never would work right, Seventy 80s, and then finally Alicos and bingo. I think you can put alinco speakers in anything and make it sound better if you have the bucks to spend on them. Mine came out of a 60s Wurlitzer organ and it was just by luck that I tried them to see what they sounded like. Best set of 12" speakers I own. I was still dissapointed in the amp and talk to several techs about modding it to get a better sound and they basically said that there wasn't any making it sound good period. It is what it is and that the tubes and speakers were about all I could do to make it sound better with the exception of trying a solid state rectifier in it and see what it did. I never tried it to see. I've tried to sell the amp when it was 6 months old and nobody wanted was interested. It sits in the back bedroom along with some others that I've bought searching for a good sound and threw away money on them also. But like I said, tubes are definitely an improvement and speakers are very important too.

Vox AC30 head kicks serious butt!

I was the proud owner of an AC15 reissue w/Celestion Alnico Blue speaker. I sold the amp a few years ago and always regretted it. I have been hearing "that" sound in my head for a long long time ever since. I have tried every short cut that I know to get back to that to no avail. Don't get me wrong, I have some other good gear...a 70's silver panel Deluxe Reverb, a BF Champ, lot's of guitars. But, it is that Vox sound that I was missing. No matter what anyone says, HB's don't sound good through traditional Fender amps. I have an American made in RI Guild SFIII and I have missed that guitar terribly until today. I plugged 'er into my new Vox AC30 head, connected to my Vintage 30 that was mounted in my Deluxe and POW! I wasn't expecting that good of a sound hooked up that way to an AC30, but is was unbelievable! That sound! I have a 2x12 cab on layaway so after an Alnico jolt, It is really going to be extra sweet! I was hesitant to buy a Chinese-made Vox, but so far, so good. I bought is stupid cheap so even if it fails I can afford to put Mercury Trannys in it and still be okay! Buy one of these!

great reverb. Tone is exactly what I was looking for. I'm a singer so I need something that blends with my voice. My tele's high notes scream out now. But not obnoxious. I also run my Larivee acoustic thru it. I have to figure out a way to switch between the two.

I just bought this AC30CCH head and I'm pretty blown away by it. I play in my church band and they have an AC30CC1 with just a 1x12" speaker in it, and although it sounds really good, the head through my 4x12 cab and 1x15 vintage vox cab sounds absolutely amazing. I'm really glad I bought the head instead of the combo, I like to make my own variation of head and combos and the head is just easier to carry around than the combo and still make good combinations.

I think this is one amp that everybody needs to have if they're serious. Nothing sounds bad on it and it gives that incredible Vox tone that everybody keeps searching for. I'm always a little skeptical about new "modern" features on amps 'cause they always seem to take away from the original sound but these modern features do just the opposite. Every single option sounds incredible and you can still get the classic ac30 tone. Anyways if you're thinking about getting an AC30 get one...you will not be dissapointed at all.
