Finally VOX valve tone for the working man!

I finally bought the amp I’ve been drooling over all year! In a world of cold onboard digital effects and 100W heavy metal distortion, the simple1-channel AC15CC1 is almost revolutionary. This 15W tube VOX beauty reacts to every minute tonal variation your fingers and guitar can create. I've never heard a new low wattage amp as deep and clear, the breakup is truly rock n' roll heaven, and the reverb/tremolo does that sought-after surf rock/spaghetti western tone. Well-built and beautiful enclosure, probably not as sturdy as an old Fender, but the tone makes up for it! Give the 12" speaker a couple of months to break in, the highs will mellow out. If clear, articulate vintage overdrive is your tone, there's simply no new amp under $1000 that is better than a Custom Classic VOX. Don’t even consider digital modeling offerings until you’ve given this amp or the AC30CC1 a good honest test. For most guitarists, 15 A/B tube watts beat 50 solid state watts any day!

I just got my AC15CC1 yesterday and I can't stop playing it. It has tone and vibe for days and the natural compression is orgasm inducing. You can feel the notes squish and expand under your fingers. I have lusted for an AC for years and when this lower priced model came out, I took the plunge. I have owned everything from a champ to a 100W Marshall Plexi with lot's of twins, supers, bassman's and bluesbreakers in between. This amp rates right up there with the best of them.

My AC-15 is the second one I've owned. I got the first one in 1965, gigged heavily. It finally broke in 1975, toe up badly. This current model does it justice. It could stand to be a bit louder with more punch. Half throttle and all top boost, it should be louder. Maybe I like loud better after all this experience, maybe it isn't as loud as the first one. It couldn't sound better, though. Mic it, let the PA do the work.

I walked into a local music store today torn between three different amps, and tried all - this AC15 outperformed the other two more than I could have imagined.

Through it, I tried an Am.Deluxe Tele, an ES339, and a Gretsch 5120 to cover all my bases - the Gretsch sounded best, but all sang out beautifully and convinced me to take it home.

Since buying it this afternoon, I've spent about four hours playing my heavily modified MIA Tele through it, and it's now my favourite non-vintage amp I've ever tried. My only complaint is that the tremolo controls are a little strange - I need a heavy touch on the depth knob, and a very light touch on the speed knob. Also, it was sold without a footswitch, but I'll pick one up the next time I drive into town.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my decision to buy this amp - a friend has told me that acoustic guitars also sound wonderful through it, so I'll have to try that out when I get a chance. I intend to use it mostly for recording, though, and maybe some small shows with my band. Good luck with it, if you decide to purchase it.

Love That Tone

Has that great Vox chime. Great clean sounds, and it loves all my effect pedals. Cool tube sound. The warfedale speaker sounds good, but I replaced it with a celestion vintage 30, and I really dig it now. I use both a Strat and a Les Paul. I turn up the master volume when use my Strat. It's surprisingly loud for 15 watts. Great looks and very depedable. Buy it love it.~~~
