The Visual Sound Route 66 multi effects pedal gives you the great tone guitarists have come to love, plus an added noise reduction system that gives you that quiet ride you've always wanted. Classic compression combined with classic overdrive-these two effects sound great on their own, but combine them, as the Route 66 pedal has, and get the ultimate combination in a single pedal pedal.

The V2 Route 66 pedal features redesigned noise reduction on the compressor channel, and additional low-drive range on the overdrive channel. The great-sounding overdrive channel is modeled after the sound of the original Tube Screamer, but it also has a bass boost switch. The compressor can be set for classic squash or clean boost with the unique preamp stage and gain knob. This allows for a truckload of clean gain. The compressor even has its own tone control. The 2 effects can be used independently or combined to complement one another.

In 1999, Visual Sound made the statement "Our Route 66 is sure to become as legendary as its namesake." With countless great guitarists using it ever since, the Route 66 pedal from Visual Sound has become just that, a legend!

The V2RT66 Overdrive and Compression Guitar Multi Effects Pedal features a diecast aluminum housing, ultra-reliable 10 million cycle switching, easy battery access and circuit protection from AC adapters. Wide and sturdy stomp switches designed by Bob Weil himself. And a redesigned, noise-free experience. This version of the Route 66 pedal has raised the bar for years to come.

First, I don't know how anyone could say thhat this thing isn't built like a tank or otherwise imply that the build quality is anything other than first-rate. I've been using my V2 Rt 66 since it was released and it's been perfectly solid for over a year, through many, many gigs & rehearsals and with countless stomps.

I leave the compressor on almost all the time - great for funk & reggae rhythm work, and with my strat it's just magical for boosting solos. I keep the comp level at about 12noon, and it doesn't squash the dynamics to much, and I control my volume from the guitar.

I generally use a Bad Monkey or Barber Ltd for my dirty rhythm work, and I have the OD side of the 66 set up for leads. Either my itself or with the comp it sounds HUGE. There's a ton of gain available, and tonally it is much more versatile than a standard TS circuit due to the bass boost - which I leave on.

This was my first VS pedal, but won't be my last, as I'm planning to add an H20 at some point. An excellent product, built like a tank, and the proprietary stomp switches are the best. I wish all my pedals had them.

OK So I bought a Route 66 V2 because a friend of mine's V1 sounded so good. Now I'm on my second one it's noisy beyond belief. The compression sounds like tissue paper. I'm just fed up with the poor QC at VS. Thanks MF for standing up to your return policy. Unfortunately the only ones benefitting are the UPS people

Old Model Better

I have the old model of the route 66. I have played this one and let me tell you, the new version isn't that great. It is plastic. They really cheeped out the new model. If you want to buy this, go find the old model, it is more sturdy and will last you a long time. I got mine for less then this price. The compression is amazing, but the over drive is hard to find the right spot. If you want to get this, get the old model, it sounds better and will probably last longer. Take my word for it.

This pedal is the best bang for the buck. It is a really great overdrive with an excellent compressor combined. I own a couple of tube amps, Marshall and Fender and it really improves both of them. I play an 80's strat, all original and a LP classic. If you take the time to tweak it you will not be disappointed. I have never been much of a pedal guy until now. Visual sound has hit the mark with this one.

Couldn't play without it!

Simply put, this pedal is my bread and butter! I don't play with out it! I absolutely love it! It's great for blues, some classic rock, and it even use it underneath a metal distortion pedal to add beef to the sound. It can do anything! Since I don't want to have to write a lengthy review, I'll say this: the overdrive is great by itself, can handle Hendrx and SRV, or can add something special to your distortion. And the compression is just great! Buy it, you will not regret it! I've had it for a year, and I've never been able to turn it off!
