A killer distortion and overdrive in one box. |
The Visual Sound V2JH is two separate overdrive effects in one pedal, each with separate controls, and each with its own personality. They can be used separately or blended together. Jekyll accurately reproduces the sound of the original TS808 Tube Screamer, providing depth and smooth sustain. The Hyde part is a heavier extremely versatile overdrive with more bottom. Use the Jekyll & Hyde pedal's EQ to scoop out the midrange for a wide range of tones and a Sharp/Blunt switch to go from compressed to very bright. The sonic possibilities are endless.
The V2 Jekyll & Hyde pedal features redesigned noise reduction and improved mid control on the Hyde channel, plus additional low-drive range on the Jekyll channel. Besides that and the sweet new V2 housing, the V2JH stompbox delivers the same great overdrive and distortion tones that the Jekyll & Hyde pedal is famous for.I
From its first appearance in 1997, the Jekyll & Hyde was the first stompbox to combine two separate effects in one pedal. Now ten years later the V2 Series gives you the same great tone guitarists have come to love, plus an added noise reduction system, creating the ultimate guitar dream!
Each channel of the newly designed Jekyll & Hyde has separate controls, giving you the ability to use them singly, or together. The Jekyll Overdrive channel delivers more output volume than the original TS-808-far surpassing its predecessor. The Hyde side is more than just a turbo version of Jekyll. With heavier distortion and more bottom end, this crazy distortion pedal is extremely versatile!
From Visual Sounds V2 Series, the V2JH Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive and Distortion Multi Effects Pedal features a diecast aluminum housing, ultra-reliable 10 million cycle switching, easy battery access and circuit protection from AC adapters.

I play in a cover band ad we do Blues, classic rock and some metal. This thing has it covered. The noise suppression is great. Only drawback is that you have to take it apart to adjust the noise suppression and bass. The rage of tone is limitless. A must have for any working guitarist.

Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde OD/DS Pedal

I bought this pedal a few months ago. I currently run through a Mesa boogie mark V and/or mesa boogie express 5:25 with a Gibson SG 1961 reissue. First of all let me say that this pedal is perfect for applying to any vintage or clean amp that, as many say, "lacks enough drive for distorted guitar solos, modern leads, van halen, etc. you name it). The distortion side has all the gain you need for your singing rock solos you can imagine in your head. The overdrive side works good as a clean boost, or if you don't have an extra channel on your amp, can simulate the sound of a vintage amp on a clean channel with the gain at 10 (AKA natural overdrive, very sought-after tone). Personally I use the distortion side more, so you may consider buying the "son of hyde" (basically 1/2 this pedal)if that's all you need. I am still finding the overdrive side's righteous place in my guitar rig, and am sure it will be great. Overall quality is excellent. This pedal is used by pros like eric johnson and johnny hiland, to name a few.

I spent roughly 2 months reading reviews, watching clips, and asking friends before i picked up this pedal. It is by far one of the best pedal investments i have ever made. I've always been a TubeScreamer guy for my rhythm sound, but wanted something more high gain for leads. I love the sounds you can get from this pedal. The distortion alone is ok, but it works best with the overdrive. I use the Jekyll (overdrive) side for my rhythm playing, and then kick on the Hyde for high gain Mesa-like leads. I also use the bass-boost and bright switches to shape the sound. I've finally found the tone that i've had in my head, and i couldn't be happier with my purchase. Thanks Visual Sounds, for putting out a great product!!

I purchased this pedal to gain up a practice amp and worked great. When I bought a solid state Marshall the pedal showed its flaws. The overdrive sounds stuck in the mud and occasionally screams feedback even on the clean channel. The distortion channel sounds great except for static that accompanies it. Even a boss NS2 cant stop it. when both effects are on the pedal is gonna feedback period. Great pedal when it works not when it acts up.

Sounds better with humbuckers

I got the Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive/Distortion pedal as a Christmas gift and after 5 months of experimenting with it, I think it's time to write a review. I love this pedal. It's so versatile and gives you so many options. You could use the overdrive side and get some nice blues rock tones with your neck pickup, or get some great AC/DC tones using the distortion pedal, providing you have the right settings and the right pickups on your guitar. One thing that I've noticed is that this pedal sounds better when you use a guitar with humbuckers on it. I own a Strat and a Les Paul and this pedal sounds way better when I hook it up to the LP. However, that's only my opinion. Overall, a great addition to any pedalboard.
