This little amp doesn't have all the bells and whistles of other amps but it packs a punch. We ran 4 instruments and 2 vocals through the amp for 2 1/2 hours for four straight weekends - it really wasn't designed for this kind of workout but it really delivered better than we had any right to expect - we played in a crowded open air setting and the amp did a great job projecting our sound - much better than the microcube we also had on stage. I have no idea how to replace the battery but so far, it's been completely reliable.

Traynor International TVM10 15W. I ordered this September 23, it arrived September 25, and I used it for a gig September 26! I used this for a two-hour gig at an outdoor farmer's market. It sounded so nice that the people coming in after me asked if they just use mine instead of setting up their own. They used it and were very happy with the result. I used it in two configurations. In both configurations, I used an Electrovoice PL76 as a vocal mic. In one configuration, I used a Martin D-35 with a Barcus-Berry Oak pickup in the other channel. In the other configuration I substituted a rather low-cost mic for the Barcus Barry and I played a banjo though that. As soon as I unpacked the package and read the manual, I flipped the power switch and the yellow light came on, indicating the unit was fully charged! So, I plugged in the guitar and mic, set the levels across the bands and went to work. The channel settings were pretty low for good volume, but then again, I was inside. For the gig itself, the settings were as follows: bass, 2.5; low mid, high mid and treble at 6.5; channel 1 and channel 2 volumes, 1.5. I have no idea what this box will do if it is turned up, but numerous people who do gigs came up and looked for the power cords and commented on how much sound it put out. They just stood there with a blank look when I told them the volume was set on 1.5 of 10 and that the unit is supposed to go 10 hours o a battery charge. I've been using a Tapco mixer I bought in the mid seventies --wow!--and a guitar amp that also runs on AC power. This is a great replacement for gigs when I play alone; it is so easy to set up. I'm really glad I bought the extended warranty; I really like this unit and hope to use it for many years.

I needed something to keep my acoustic guitar up to banjo level of volume and remain mobile on the gig, no problems now! played small rock gigs with full effects, full tilt, plenty of volume, great sound, battery life still undetermined!

initial impressions

It's model "TVM10" and the manual says "ten watts" so it's evidently not 15W. On the other hand, the chassis appears identical to the Crate TX15, the major difference for the extra $30 being an 8" speaker, and that's supposed to be 15 watts.

The AC charger is just that: the manual recommends not using it to power the unit when AC is available. That means every time it's used it's going to cost a charging cycle. So after a couple hundred deep discharges, look to replace the battery somehow -- no telling what's in it that'll need replacing.

It seems solidly built and I'm looking forward to hearing it once it's charged overnight.

Great Portable Amp !

Go ahead and buy this sound box...it is a great amp and a great bargain. The eq allows you to tailor your tone preferences. Charge it up and it lasts for days without needing a re-charge and with plenty of volume, too. Perfect for travel. It sounds great with a good pair of phones. I play my ipod through it and it sounds way better than my g-dec. I have also owned the micro cube and Traynor simply blows it away, much to my surprise. I've played my strat, my ric and my cut-away through this amp. Both electric and acoustic sounds come through sonically full and satisfying. Wish it had a molded carry-ing case but I'll devise my own. Thanks Traynor. Great job. I love this thing !
