The Traynor DynaGain DG30D delivers a full 30-watts through its high quality 12-inch Celestion™ speaker, making it perfect for personal practice or rehearsals with the band. A two-channel design allows the player to switch between from pristine clean to searing lead channel at the touch of a switch, or remotely with the optional AFS2 footswitch. The Traynor DG30D's 24-bit digital multi effects processor offers chorus, flange, vibrato and special effects. Perfect for practice, the Traynor DG30D has RCA line input for quick connection of a CD or MP3 player allowing any play-along source to be mixed with the guitar. The 1/4-inch headphone jack (with speaker defeat) makes the Traynor DynaGain DG30D ideal when private practice is preferred.

Maximum versatility and superior tube-like tone is now available in this solid-state guitar amplifier. The Traynor DynaGain DG30D employs three-stage dynamic tube emulation circuitry to provide unparalleled tube-like tone from a solid-state amplifier. The Transconductive power amplifier design used exclusively in the DynaGain series ensures the solid-state amplifier sounds just like a tube amp.

Pushing the boundaries of modern technology, Traynor discovered how to utilize Dynamic Gain control in the preamp to ensure the best tube emulation possible from an entirely solid-state circuit design. Dyna-Sound speaker emulation on the headphone output, and speaker defeat switch makes the DynaGain amplifiers the perfect amplifier for the practicing musician.

I was looking for a US made solid state amp, based on the other reviews from this site that state the amp was made in Canada. I felt compelled to write a review due to the amp being misrepresented. Please be advised that the amp is made in China, as per the bold letter on the box it came in & on the amp itself. So before even opening the box I was to say the least disappointed. When plugging in the the power chord, the amp chasey is not bolted properly to the wood/particle board & moves each time you plug the power chord in to the amp. This can be an issue over time. The sound of the amp is pretty decent, & with past experience with Traynor products made in Canada the quality is pretty good. Unfortunately I had to returned for the power chord issue & not US made.

I went to a local music store 4 months ago and tried this fellow out. WOW...the tone that came out of this Traynor blew me away and it made me feel like it was the tone I have been searching for out of a combo amp. I bought his big brother, the 65-watt DynaGain which features three-band eq on the overdrive and clean channels, master volume and reverb (a little more professional than this one). If you have the cash, buy this amp: you won't regret it.

I love these little things! That "Dyna-gain" thing really works. These Traynor amps sound and "feel" like my modified Marshalls. The effects are really decent, if somewhat stock-sounding. What you give up in "tweak-ability" you get back in simplicity.

Clean channel is robust, full, detailed; like Fender clean, but without the flabby low-end.

That detail crosses over nicely into the distortion channel where complex chords and high-speed shredding sounds defined, clear, and articulate. Low notes speak with authority, but do not overpower the high strings. High-notes flow sweetly, especially with humbuckers.

I have used several of these Traynor guitar amps and found they all respond consistently well. This is my favorite small mono amp they make. But I really like the stereo 40 watt model too.

If you are looking for tube-tone in a small package, and don't want the hassle of tubes, these Traynor amps definitely qualify. The Peavey TransTube models and SansAmp products are the other contenders I compare these to. All of them are good. I favor these slightly because of my good experiences with Traynor products over a period of thirty years. Traynor has the edge in cabinet building too. Although a small thirty watt amp probably doesn't need all-plywood construction, they do it anyway. I like that philosophy from Traynor. Made by our peaceful Canadian brothers and sisters in North America. That's a plus in my book. Traynor, like several Canadian music companies, doesn't use cheap foreign slave-labor to reduce their costs. Instead, they rely on a peaceful economy that grows stronger without supporting the Military Industrial Complex. And we don't have as much carbon debt when buying products on the same continent. Listen to the amp. Search your soul. Use your own judgment.

Real DEAL !!!

These "Dyna-gain" amps are amazing! I have no idea what "Transconductive" means... and after playing this amp, I don't care! I definitely DO know what tube amps sound like and how they behave. These Traynor amps ROCK!

If, like many of us, you are downsizing your equipment to preserve an ailing back, or if you just want an affordable versatile amp that doesn't piss-off your audience, singer and sound-man, this little beauty is the answer!

In case you're not hip to Traynor, they've been around for decades and make really solid stuff. They have fast responsive support, are knowledgeable and even nice 'aboot' it too!

Our Norther Neighbors make this amp in Peaceful Canada, where their economy is stronger, so these are very affordable. You won't be sending your money to China when you buy Traynor stuff.

Sincerely, I think ANY seasoned guitarist will LOVE this amp, or any other in the Dyna-Gain series. They are relatively light-weight, but VERY solidly built. The sound is superb and the response is BETTER than most tube amps.

If you are only interested in heavy distortion or metal sounds, this probably isn't what you want. It gets a great authentic British distortion, and sweet clear clean tones. When I said "seasoned" guitarist, I meant a guitarist who has a broader vocabulary of styles than just Shred Metal. I intend no insult to the metal heads, but from experience, i think this amp is better suited to those of us who need versatility and authentic tube-response, but don't want the the Macho-mass of stacks. This thing won't break your bank, your back or your eardrums. It sounds wonderful and is more consistent than tube amps. I love it.

A good little practice amp

I bought this thing a year ago and I've been really surprise by what is coming out of this. The clean channel can be push a bit to give a nice warm blues tone and the overdrive channel is, well, really overdrive. There is a lot a bass though, need to be turn down when I'm on the neck pickup. Use a Godin Exit22 (very versatile)
