THIS AMP KICKS @**!!

The clean channel wasn't very clean past 3 on the clean channel, so I put a 12AT7 in the V1 to clean up the amp. This caused me to lose some crunch on the overdrive channel, but I have the boost on the drive channel, which solves that problem. This amp sounds amazing, really blending 6L6 sweetness with a sort of Marshall plexi character on the drive channel.
I'd reccomend this amp to anyone looking for a LOUD AS HELL amp that can handle gigs, has great tone, and last. I play a Fender Tele (with a neck bucker) and a Squier Strat (with a Lace Sensor bridge pup) and they both sound great through it.I only need to have the volumes set to 5 at band practises. Haven't had the chance to gig with it yet though.
This amp is definitely worth getting, unless you have no sense of tone and would rather have super-heavy-mid-scooped distortion.

The new improved Tremolux!

The big sound in a little amp. The 2 10" speakers and tube configuration give me the sound and feeling as my 1960 Fender Tremolux did back then yet I have the overdrive I want without blowing the speakers. A great stage amp that can be miked-up in a large venue while the perfect size for studio work. Traynor has out done themselves with this one-piece open-back beauty. A truly versatile and fully functional electric guitar amplifier. My vintage Jazzmaster is alive with the clean, crisp sounds of the Ventures and Beach Boys, the Rickenbacker 12 string is alive with the sounds of The Byrds and The Eagles and my original Les Paul Deluxe is as clean or as muddy as that of those that it was designed for. It was well worth every cent. If this amp had only been around in the 1960's... I can only imagine!

I bought this amp about a year and a half ago and it is just incredible. The amp with no added effects makes great classic rock and blues tones. If you put an overdrive in front of the distorted channel you can get an awesome metal tone, like zakk's. The only complaint I can think of is the boost feature, which makes the amp pretty muddy.

This is an update from my previous comments about this amp. I have moved back to Toronto now so you won't be confused about my last review. The amp I took out of the box and didn't work and was again replaced without question and with a bunch of apologies and some discounts on other gear I bought. It's close to a year since my last review and I have to say that this amp is the best I have ever owned. If your looking for classic rock sound this is the one to own. I have effects pedals as well that all work great with this amp. I have played some small local venues and had other players ask if they could use this amp for their set because they were really taken with the sound. So go to your local guitar shop and try it out. I know you'll be amazed both at the quality and the price.

This is the Amp.

To start off I would like to say that I am trying to be as realistic as possible for this review. I generally never fill compelled to write reviews about products that I own but this amp is something special.
The clean channel on this amp is beautiful. Its sparkly, crystal clear and amazingly dynamic. I am not familiar with the fabeled "Fender Clean" but I can say that this is probably the most versitle, and beautiful clean sound I have ever heard from a reasonably priced tube amp.
I have read quite a few reviews about this amp, and many say that this is not a metal amp, but I would have to contest this. It does not have that grinding treble response that many want, or that "chugging" palm muted sound, however with some tweaking you can get a convincing alt-metal sound. Think Alice in Chains. Of course this veries depending upon what guitar you use. I personally am using an Ibanez RG Prestige, and I use a ProCo Turbo Rat to push this thing over the edge and get the perfect metal sound. Mind you that this amp can play anything from metal, to smooth jazz; its very versitile.
The reverb is great. It goes from dry to cavern with the turn of a knob. I gave this amp an 8 on the features because it lacks a master volume to crank the power section with. In addition the boost switch, although providing additional volume, can cause the amp to lose some bite. Its useful for solos however.
I have been having a bit of a problem with the power section there is a volume increase on the lead channel and an odd "knocking" on the clean. The left 6L6 power tube flares blue when this happens, but probably just switch out the tube for a new one. (Not to discourage any potential buyers...) For anyone who cares to know, this amp is made in Canada, and is extremely high quality. You will not find an amp with better features for the price. I am very hard to impress, and I love this amp. Anyone who is looking to buy a Crate V-Series, I've been there. Go for this amp. You wont be dissapointed. This is the Amp.
