I'm not really into effects, so it's not an important device to me. It does produce some interesting sounds, not high quality sounds though. Many are somewhat noisy, and most are repeated by selecting a different number: #4 sounds the same as #44, etc. The volume/gain levels vary greatly from selection to selection, which is inconvenient. I'm glad I didn't spend much for it. You get what you pay for.

My buddy (Bass Player) bought it for a gig for me to borrow. Needless to say, I bought it off of him (I think I was set up). It can make the worst of us sound good. Definately a "Keeper".

I own the toneworks AX3G and I am very pleased with it. for the price, it is a life saver. I bought this processor about a year or two ago, and it is still in great condition after being used at shows, in my studio/room at least 5 days a week if not all week. Not a single scratch, ding, dent, crack, nothing. And yes, it is made of plastic, which seems to be everyones nightmare (just stop stompin around like you know what you're doing, mr. guitar hero) The distortion channels all sound good, you just have to figure out a style to go with it. The pre FX do what they say they do, and thankfully they all have parameters if you have a problem with the sound. The modulating effects also have an array of sounds with anywhere from 3 to 7 parameters each. The reverbs and delays also sound good. You can't get a horribly long delay out of it, but its not a dedicated box for that so you shouldn't expect that much.

Overall, just buy it if you don't have much money. I have learned that cheap stuff is just as good if not better if you know how to use it.

my favorite unit

I have played around with many effects units, had many amps with amp modeling and effects built in, and I've never been fully satisfied. I bought this originally for my bass because it was cheaper than the bass model. Well, as I played with it, I realized that it sounded better than my Kustom 212, my AX10G, and my line six. SO, I started using it for guitar instead of bass. I've loved it ever since

Now, just because its small, doesn't mean it sounds small. Take it easy on the volume, you can get some pretty horrid sounds out of it if you blast it.

The amp models are GREAT. all of them are useful, and all are unique

The effects are GREAT also. They work well, and have a lot more parameters than you would think.

The shell, is plastic. This is the only drawback, but really, its not that bad. I've played punk and thrash shows with it, so its been through hell.

Overall, I would really look into buying this no matter what budget you have.
