No Longer a Tube Snob

This high-quality amp is made in the USA, and develops 60 watts RMS. The sound is clear and crisp without being icepick ear-piercing like some Fenders I've owned. For me this is the ideal jazz guitar amp in its power rating. It's also capable of handling heavy rock without skipping a beat. What I like most about it--other than its construction quality and weight--is its response to string attack. Not overly sensitive like Fenders--don't get me wrong, I actually DO like Fenders a lot, but not for my applications--but just the right amount of "pluck." My Epiphone Alleykat really sounds like a jazz axe now; my Ibanez AS73 (with Super58's) sounds even better than before--articulate yet mellow, loud but tailored sound. The amp excels at so many things that guitarists value, but they're all the subtleties that are kind of hard to describe in words. Plug in an play and you'll get my drift. The reason I didn't give it a 5 is that I would have like to have a 3-band EQ. I'm accustomed to the arrangement, but like most of us, grew up with bass-mid-treble. To me, now, it's a minor issue, since there are ways to compensate for it.

More versatile than you'd believe

I've had it for a week now and I'm still amazed at how many sounds I can get out of this thing. I needed something more reliable than my finicky tube combo and now I'm kicking myself for not buying this thing in the first place when when I first considered it. I was intrigued by the great reviews the Tech 21 had gotten, but I didn't have an opportunity to play one, so I followed the heard and bought a Marshall. Although that really was, and is, a good amp, this thing really has much more to offer. It get's 'saggy' like a tube amp, has surprisingly robust cleans, famously authentic direct-out capabilities (courtesy of the "Sansamp" technology), plenty of gig'ing power and its LIGHT!. If you're thinking about it, jump on it... this thing is extremely versatile. It really and truly nails many, many amp sounds without resorting to harsh, head-room robbing digitized shenanigans. Even better, it has it's own voice that I've not found in another amp. This amp will please the knob-tweaking nuts and the 'set it and forget it' guys equally well. Very musical and very expressive. You get a lot of amp for the money.

I’ve owned the Trademark 60 for six months and it is everything I expected. The clean side can range from very clean to nicely distorted. The distortion channel goes the rest of the way to compressed overdrive. Put a Tube Screamer in front and you’ve got full meltdown. The direct out has more treble than the speaker, but nothing that can’t be rolled off at the mixer. I’ve played tube amps most of my guitar-playing life (Super Reverb, etc) and this is very close to the sound and response. And no matter the settings, my Strat still sounds like a Strat. Now, A/B it with my son’s AC 15 and you can notice the difference. But factor in the price, portability and reliability and this is an excellent alternative. I would like to have more than just mid controls on each channel, but it works fine without them. I’ve already recommended it to friends.

Good SS Amp

i needed an amp for live stuff and didn;t want to lug an expensive fragile amp through the city. I'm not a tube idiot - I know that a good tranny will sound more tube-y than a tube. but I was concerned about the distortion which most certainly benifits from tubes. this amp sounds pretty good. It's not a matchless or even a fender or marshall. the distortion is ok. Turned way up it's a little odd (which may work for the styles that need it) but warts and all it is the ONLY SS amp I'd wanna gig with. I'd take it over most tube amps in it's price range too . . . it's analog so it BLOWS away the sound of the digital crap. More warmth (to use a crap buzz word) but it fits here! . . .
