The Tech 21 SansAmp GT2 Tube Amp Emulator costs less than the original Sans Amp, and it's easier to set up. So they compromised on sound quality, right? Not as far as we can tell! GT2 purrs and screams with the same kind of fat, warm, glowing-glass sounds heard in the original, but cost-effective manufacturing brought the price down. You select amp type, modification, and mic placement. Find the tone you want using high and low EQ, set your level, dial up distortion with the drive knob, then hit the "on" switch. The Tech 21 SansAmp GT2 is a truckload of tube amps in just one pedal!

I've used this pedal a lot....... I mean alot. Gig after gig after gig. You can dial up almost any tone. The best part is it's analog. People forget what that sounds like and smells like in the digital world. Put this in front of a tube amp and it's butter. I will say I do have to replace the switch once a year but the people at tech 21 are very nice about it.

I bought one used back in 1995. It continues to provide outstanding tweed tone and clarity through my tube amp. I've tried all kinds of effects as well as the Digitech stuff and none can provide a clear tone like the GT-2. Great for blues. Only problem was getting to the battery which it ate pretty fast. I wish it had a battery cover access.

I just got this pedal and al I can say is for the value I am truly impressed. The "tweed" setting is all vintage fender, which is a blues player's dream. When it comes to rock hit the "California" setting, which is made to sound like a Boogie. The distortion on the Boogie setting is absolutely what I was looking for. This is by far the best pedal I have ever purchased.

Heaven into a Boogie

I've been using this and the Tri-OD straight into my recording studio for years. It's better than any other solution I have tried for recording, and I have tried them all. Great for clean sounds and distortions. The downside is that it's not so great for a slightly broken up tone though.

The other day I tried plugging this into the front of my MK III Mesa Boogie. I used it to push the Crunch channel and OH MY GOD, the most beautiful liquid tones I ever heard came out of my Boogie. Needless to say, I'm now purchasing a second one to replace the OD pedal on my board. It sounds pretty good running into either the effects loop, or into the clean channel on my Boogie, but it is SUPERB into the crunch channel (especially if you set the crunch channel just so that it begins to break up).

This little device gave life to my Boogie. It's fantastic for recording straight into a recording console, and it can double as an amp at a gig.

The price is a little on the high side, but it is worth every penny.

By far the best distortion pedal I've ever heard. Simulates Boogie, Marshall and Fender amps very well. You could plug this thing into a toaster and sound great. Buy one now!
