The rounded warm tones of the solid Western red cedar top on this Taylor GS Series Rosewood/Cedar Top Acoustic Guitar are given gentle definition by the solid Indian rosewood back and sides, which happen to be breathtakingly beautiful. Likewise the inky bound ebony fretboard with abalone microdots, the iridescent abalone rosette, and the gold-plated Taylor tuning machines. The unique Grand Symphony body style was designed to produce lots of volume and deeper bass response than other Taylor designs while having well-balanced highs and a narrow waist for comfort.

Bob Taylor personally designed the Grand Symphony body style for a unique sound. A higher, wider waist and a rounder lower bout result in distinctive tone with deep piano-like bass, rich mids, and clear, balanced highs-all with plenty of volume.

I like it...but...

I'm a lover of the Chet Atkins style, picker and I like the quality and sound of this guitar, but...there is also something about this guitar that bothers me and I find myself spending to much time trying to identify the "bother" rather than just enjoying my playing time.I now will first reach for my old 314ce before picking the CS. I truly regret selling my older 614ce and buying this CS7. It's probably just a goofy personal thing with me, As I have always loved the Taylor products.

Priority Placed on Tone

I've owned this guitar for about two years now. At times it can be awkward to get around. And at times I've had complaints from other friends that 'the guitar hurts' their left hand. Admittedly, the neck feels a little bit thicker than other Taylors. However, the tone both for studio and live application has never failed me. It has an especially rich quality in its low end, and a long lasting resonance. It is bright, clear and overall a comparably louder guitar. I enjoy it - I'd be keen to try something a little bit smaller down the road.

This is an amazing guitar. I own it with the expression system. I love the sound of it. It is the nicest guitar I have ever played! I've played a 914ce in a guitar center and the GS7 sounds better than it, IDK if it was the strings on the 914 but even with older strings it still sounds really nice, Hope this review helped try one out, Peace =]

Amazing and Beautiful Guitar

I have owned this guitar for about a year and a half now (Rosewood/Cedar). I bought it for recording (no electronics, use KM184s and SM81s to record). It has some of the deepest warmest tones I have ever heard from a guitar. The "piano-like bass" descriptions fit it perfectly. The mids and highs are balanced and there is a rich and organic sound overall.
