I've owned mine now for over a year and I will have to say the more I play the more I love it. If you have a chance to play one you will see for your self because this guitar sings (speaks) for it's self.

Brown sugar is too sweet

I bought this guitar for my 40th birthday. I own several other guitars, including Fender, Ovation, Alvarez, Guild and one other Taylor. This guitar is beautiful, it is the brown sugar color. I've had it for about four monthes now and I swear each time I play it it sounds better. It's so easy to play it makes you a better player and the tone and action is just incredible. This is the most exspensive guitar I own, most of the guitars I have I inherited from my father. This is well worth the price and should never be worth less than what you pay for it.

I knew immediately there was something special about this guitar the minute I picked it up. Yes, I thought the appearance was a trifle gaudy, but that was just a first impression. I had been playing an 814, and this, by comparison was so much more focused and articulate, very clear and well defined, but not that loud. However, loud enough, with advanced hex pickups for amplification. I also like the dramatic appearance, and the comfort of the guitar. That was the other thing, the thin body and short scale neck make it as comfy as an electric.

short scale

If you like playing fingerstyle guitar, and Doyle Dykes tunes, this is a must have instrument. The new 24 7/8 inch scale length or (string length) makes playing easier. The strings are a little looser, making chords and vibrato's easier to play. And the strings vibrate the top more, which in turn gives this fine instrument a great tone and a louder sound(also due to Taylors scalloped 'X' bracing)The distance between the 7th. and 12th. fret is aprox. 1/8 less than a standard 25 1/2 inch scale length, and if you have a smaller hand''what a differance an eigth makes! The new 'Taylor' tunes are just excellent. This guitar not only sounds and plays great it is a work of art,the guitar itself is beautiful. Bob Taylor and Doyle Dykes really have a world class instrument with the short-scale DDSM.And lets not forget the affordable pricing that Musicians friend has to offer us!Thanks..... I bought one of these a couple of years ago and couldn't be happier. Played gentle it is warm and sweet. Dig in and it sings big and bright. The LR Baggs system works and sounds great.
