The Taylor DN3 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar delivers signature Taylor performance, quality, and value. The DN3 Guitar is a great introduction to the solid-wood Taylor experience. The Taylor DN3 has a back and sides made of sapele, and a Sitka spruce top to create a rich tonal tapestry. Appointments include a bound ebony neck, chrome plated tuners, and an Indian rosewood headstock overlay. Simple, traditional styling and renowned Taylor craftsmanship make this one of their most popular models.

The traditional shape and sound have been refined to blend power with a more balanced response Bob Taylor launched his career crafting Dreadnoughts, working with shapes he inherited from Sam Radding, the owner of the American Dream guitar shop, where he and Taylor co-founder Kurt Listug got their start. The legacy of this shape carried a powerful, traditional sound that Bob gradually reworked into a refined Taylor tone and more smoothly contoured look. The rosewood/spruce 810 became a Taylor stalwart and was for many years Bob s preferred model, favored for its robust tone and understated, workmanlike aesthetic. In 2003 the Dread underwent a major revoicing to give it a more competitive identity among old school flatpickers. A cannon, it boasted 50 percent more volume (which also meant more dynamic range), yielded an appreciably stronger bass response, and let out a hearty growl when pickers dug in, all without upsetting Taylor s sonic balance. As Bob put it during the revoicing process: I want to be able to play a Dreadnought on the bass strings and then on these middle D and G strings and have it sound like the same guitar. Bob later applied some of his short-scale ideas to the 710ce-L9 limited in 2005, and it proved to be a winner. Like the short-scale GC, the slinkier feel allowed players to lighten up on their attack and play up the neck. It gave the Dreadnought more versatility than it had ever seen. Short-scale or standard, the Taylor Dreadnought delivers a vintage sound for the 21st Century. Play a Dreadnought if: You re a flatpicker or strummer looking for a potent, traditional sound.

Just like all the other reviews, this guitar sounds amazing. I spend 4 hours in the store trying to find something around 1k that played and sounded "good". I knew after 2 or 3 strums... Play one of these guitars if you get the chance.

This is a wonderful guitar. The wider neck is great. The neck shape and finish make it so smooth to play. I put a Taylor pickguard on it(which I thought should be with it thus the 4.5) and it looks amazing. The sound is loud and clear. I am hooked. The case is even top notch. I have not seen another guitar I like as well in any price range.

Played this guitar at the local music store and it sounded beautiful. Very loud, lots of bass and mids, which is what I wanted since I strum more than pick. However, I went a few weeks later to purchase the guitar and it was gone. They had another in the back room and I tried it. The one that sold sounded ten times better. So my advice on any acoustic guitar, play it before you buy it and buy the one you play. No two seem to be alike. Not really Taylor's fault I believe in the construction, just maybe some better wood in one over the other or it needed some tech adjustments.

Great sounding, I'm not the best guitar player in the world just a singer strummer but I have tried just about everything. 2,3,4 thousand dollar martins, gibson j-200's, hummingbirds and believe me this guitar sounded better. Maybe its just me but I've been playing for over 30 years, been through alot of axes. But if you know guitars you know no two are alike.

I was a little hesitant in ordering a quality guitar online but I you need not worry.

Came UPS and when I took it out of the stout shipping cardboard box there was a beautiful Taylor hard shell case with plush lining and a snug fit!

This guitar came perfect and fresh. First guitar that I ever bought and didn't have to change the strings.

Every feature was immaculate and clean from the finish to all the joints. I actually stroke it's smooth surfaces and my wife sometimes catches me and this probably indicates some weird psychological issue on my part but oh well. Perfect intonation and low action. While this guitar does not have all the pretty appointments it is absolutely beautiful in it's simplicity. The Taylor quality is something you can count on.

The srings came tuned just a bit low (normal) so w/a couple cranks she was in tune and we were off to the pickin'!

Oh yes, it plays like a dream with balanced sound from the bass thru the mids to the highs. This sounds as good (better) than the Martin sound and I think has less of the Taylor brightness if that was a concern in other Taylors.

To me the the feel when I play a guitar is as important as the sound and this feels and plays like a dream and it is scary that it will only get better with age!

I was looking to move up to an all solid wood so that was my criteria w/o remorgaging the ranch. I have a Big Baby and love that so I am sold on Taylors. Nothing against Martin as they are great in their own right but in this price range I think Taylor has nailed it and Martin does not have respect for you until you get over the $2000 tag. My wife encouraged me to buy this over lessor Taylors, the Masterbuilts and simlar priced Martins. She could hear the difference.

I love that song, "No Regrets"
