With the Taylor 614-CE Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar the bold sounds of big leaf maple and Sitka spruce are enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body design. Together the woods create a bright, crystalline timbre with outstanding projection and warm overtones.

The bright tone of this Taylor guitar is further enhanced by the Grand Auditorium body style with its Venetian cutaway. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The 614-CE Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.

Appointments include an ebony headstock overlay, a beautiful abalone rosette, white binding, and artful abalone fretboard inlays.

Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Taylor Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

I was looking at the Martin JC-16ME and still am digging it because I already have a martin and might want this one just a little but thats just my taste. It is made from the same wood and the same feel and looks similar. I am planning on getting this one because the taylor company uses environment friendly finishes and the wood is used from fallen trees. Every company should be like that. Taylor's are a different animal and more modern to my eye. The guitars action is fast and the sound doesn't weaken as you hit the higher frets. It does look like that because the wood around the sound hole isn't rounded on the edges that makes the wood look thicker. Next time you buy think of the environment and think about the sound and the easy action. it plays like an electric unplugged. If you find the sound to bright and not full enough get the taylor Taylor 814ce Grand Auditorium it sounds like a dreadnought. This does on the other hand pick up on the highs and the lows. Grand auditoriums project very well with a full band and I think this will do better with the maple. I hope the price lowers so I wont have to buy used but I am trying to buy one brand new off this site.

I have played this guitar quite a few times through a PA, direct, no preamps or toneshapers. INCREDIBLE. The expression system doesn't just reproduce the acoustic tone, it makes it better. More sustain, more highs, more lows, and absolutely zero of the quack and "electric" sounds of other pickups. Simply beautiful and now i can't play anything else without thinking of the last time i plugged in this guitar. However, if you don't plan on playing it electrically, don't buy. Its good unplugged, but certainly not the best. But however, stage musicians, this is the pinnacle.

I have owned and played several quality guitars and I can tell you my Takamine Fd360sc has just as good action and much better tone than this guitar. Personally I would suggest that Taylor is a mob mentality, save your money.

I've played this guitar on several occasions. It's not loud when unplugged but plays nice. I'm not a big fan of the GA sound or maple. Our church has trouble w/ the 614ce Expression system thru the PA. I own the 210e w/ the ES-T system and I have no trouble and no quack. It is a very nice guitar if cut-thru is your gig in a band. But it is most certainly a specialty guitar imho.

I bought this guitar about a month ago and have not been able to put it down. The action is outstanding, the sound is better than any guitar I have played, and I have not taken it out of the case without getting a few WOWS! Great guitar. Well worth the money.
