Solid Sitka spruce top produces plenty of punch with bold, open midrange that's reinforced by solid sapele back and sides. Ideally suited for aggressive strumming, it features a high-fret cutaway, beautiful ebony fretboard and distinctive bridge, mahogany neck, Indian rosewood headstock veneer, black wood binding, and chromeplated Taylor tuners. Rupert Neve-designed Expression System electronics with Dynamic Sensors and tone controls capture top and string vibration like never before. The finish used to create this guitar's textured satin back and sides and lustrous gloss top was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

I've had this guitar for a lil over a year. And just like my other taylors it's solid. the jumbo sound ...well there's nothing like it. No wills and thrills just a working mans guitar. I'm an acoustic solo kinda guy host a lot of open mics and gig's 2-4 times a week and any guitar would take some kinda beating from all that but not this one, still solid. I tell ppl all the time about taylors and they always give me " well martin or gibsons are the way to go" I never like eather of them I'm a taylor guy if you havn't OWNED one you'll never know how good you could really be. I KNOW my taylor has made me a better Guitarist.

I am not a professional guitarist by any means, but I have played some good Taylor guitars, and am very impressed by their tone, action, and overall style. I like the way they play, and the sound awesome unplugged as well as amp'd. Ovation still beats Taylor out plugged in in my opinion, but Taylors are unmatched unplugged. This guitar is so loud unplugged, you will hardly need an amp!

Full range tone, stable neck and body, holds pitch without trouble. No frills working mans guitar that will be a keeper for the rest of your life. Mine has been set up by a pro and it plays and sounds as full as my 814ce. I bought it as a beater to use it in place of my "golden guitars" because people must always touch your gear. Now I protect it like it cost me three times the amount I paid. Its that good. Feedback control with the e.s. system blows the old Fishman pre-amps out of the water. Buy one and never look back.

When I was beginning my search of a guitar I was sure that a Martin would be the way that I would go, then I searched in the area of Jumbo Taylor. It has the lows of a Martin with the gorgeous highs of the Taylor, that we have all come to know and love. This is the best buy that I could afford. The 615 and 815 are just to high in price. This is a practical and wonderful guitar.

I gave this guitar 7 stars on value simply because you are paying a premium to own a Taylor.

I love the guitar. I've had it for about 1 month. I also have a Alvarez RD20S. It is bigger than a Dread so it has taken me awhile to get use to the size. I'm not sure if I like the medium strings that come standard. The sound however is amazing. The guitar has a bell like ring on the first 3 strings which is sometimes hypnotic. When you play chords with drone notes like some of the classic America songs from the 70's it just feels right. It is very loud and works well for fingerpicking. (I'm actually using it for my classical lessons until my Prudencio saez 4a arrives.) The bass is nice but does not have the weight of a Martin but I didn't purchase a Martin ;). Tonewise it definitely leans more toward the mids and trebles. I've heard a lot of complaints about the ES pickup system, however I've had no problems and love it. Their is no doubt you are paying a premium for the Taylor name. In return you get a quality solid wood american made guitar that sounds great. Plus its a Taylor !!!!Bottom line this guitar makes me sound like a better player than I am........
