I have been playing this guitar for about 3 years now and couldn't be happier. The model i have does NOT have the new pickup system, but the older fishman electronics. I play it live and i cannot get over how sweet and true the bass is and how toneful the high notes are. Unplugged or plugged, this guitar is worth the money. its probably worth more than the money you will play. The square shouldered dreadnought shape is comfortable and and resonanates well. dont let its "plain" appearance turn you off. it is a beautiful guitar, but even more so up close. If you have the chance PLAY ONE. You wont regret it. Use the stock elixr strings. the produce the best tone and last the longest by far. after that either the nanoweb or polyweb sound great. If your considering it, GO FOR IT. I cant say enough.

I love my Taylor 310ce. I've been saving for a new guitar for a long time, and finally got to purchase one. It fills the room with it's great tone. I am very content.

I have tried many guitars at this price point and you absolutely will not find a better playing and sounding guitar at this price range. The action is impeccable the sound is beautiful and the feel is incredible. Lately many manufacturers are 'cheaping' up the finish on guitars to save money, the 310 has the high gloss finish where it needs it, on the top. I thought I wasn't going to like the satin finish on the neck and body but it has been just great. No noticeable patina and I have played daily since 2002. This guitar only scored a 4 for features due to its 'plainness' which is not necessarily a bad thing. I have this guitar running through a Roland AC30 and it is incredible. It sounds great through the amp but I mostly play unplugged. It easily handles finger-picking and noodling and with a medium strum is loud enough for household use. Try it I bet you will buy it. I did.

Where do I start??

I've owned the 310ce for about 5 years. The first gripe I had was the fingerboard being too wide. The pitch (distance) between the strings is not standard. I never got used to it, but the sound is indeed great.

The main problem was not being able to get the AA batteries out. The inner one will not come out unless you tap (hard) the guitar against the floor. I had to do this because the batteries were going dead - they were not shutting off after the plug was pulled out.

I guess because of this banging on the floor, one of the pick-ups is lose and tends to squeal.

So now I have the dilemma of what to do with this 'great sounding when miced, not working well when plugged in - guitar'.

Maybe I should get the new 210ce and keep this one as a spare? I tried it in the store and it sounds just as good.

I have, (or actually had) a Martin DX1XE (also nice), but it was time to trade up. The higher end Martin's sound a little to dark to me, so I went to the music store expecting to buy a Taylor 312ce, but just to be sure, I tried the 310ce. It was a very, very hard decision, but I took the 310ce cuz' a) I'm used to a dreadnought, b) although not quite as bright as the 312, it was a little cleaner, and more full sounding. I think it boils down to personal taste. (Make sure you use the right strings! Taylor designs the dreadnought for mediums, lights may cause buzzing, intonation etc... problems See Taylor's website FAQ's) Also comes with a VERY helpful DVD that helps get you going, and actually tells you things you DON'T know.

Do your homework, Taylor designs some guitars for more of a rhythm strumming, some for plucking etc...

PS: Only a "4" for features. The expression system is great, but it only has bass, treble and volume. Quality is awesome - it sounded better than more expensive Taylors!
