Front & Back

The appealing tone and subtle nuances of the Taylor 214e Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar with a solid Sitka spruce top and an Indian rosewood laminate body are amplified with clarity and warmth, thanks to Taylor's ES-T electronics. The result is a high-fidelity, low-impedance signal for clear, acoustic amplified tone. The Taylor 214-E has a mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, and a 25-1/2" scale. A durable satin finish offers protection, good looks, and a smooth feel.

The Grand Auditorium body combines the width and depth of a dreadnought with a narrower waist. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The Taylor 214e Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.

My 2007 214e

My fiance bought me this guitar as a "pre engagement present" back in 07 when they had just released the rosewood 214. I LOVE THIS GUITAR. I give mine a 4.0 for features because the electronics are weak, but it did come with a pretty gloss top which they don't have anymore and the tuners were generic (replaced them with Taylor tuners). Mine's got the best spruce top I've seen on any 214 and most 300/400 series. The grain is perfect with really nice flames across it. I almost feel this top was meant to go on a 914 or something. Quality is a 5 because it's just a great sounding acoustic guitar and so easy to play. I know I'm over hyping it but I do take a lot of pride in my guitar.

Despite my rating, I don't really like the Taylor 214's they've got in stores nowadays. If you want one, I suggest finding a used 07 model. They sound much better IMO. But for feel and playability, any 214 is great place to start.

Good Guitar, Terrible Electronics

I played this guitar recently at a local music shop. I have to say that I was very impressed with the sound coming out of this instrument. It was a full/rich tone that was better than most guitars in this same price range. Then I plugged it in. The electronics are terrible. I read another review which said that the guitar sounded tinny. Let me say, it's like night and day between the acoustic sound and the sound it gives off once you plug it in. If you want a nice acoustic guitar that you might from time to time want electrified, this could do the trick. Otherwise, spend another $500 and move up the Taylor ladder or buy another brand.

I received this guitar about a year ago as a surprise from my girlfriend who know nothing about guitars and she heard it and was impressed. I still get blown away everytime i take it out of its case. This Model Taylor is very bright, full and most of all lush. The expression system is very low profile and low key, Taylor does'nt take out a big chunk of wood to put the E.Q. in. If you get a chance give this model a test drive and see if it sticks. im a fan for life.

I am a bit dissapointed. Very tinny sound I think and even tried changing the strings after receiving with minimal improvement. Will say sound may be slightly improving with age (still to be determined). The ES-T electronics doesn't impress me much. Also miss a built-in tuner that most acoustic-electrics have. An attractive instrument. One gets an ego boost with owning a Taylor but I really have other lower price acoustic guitars that sound better.

This guitar is an overall good guitar. The tone is a bit scrachy but that might be because the bridge is too high so I'm getting it shaved. I'm very pleased with the guitar just not so much the price.
