Solid Guitar

This guitar just plays and sounds really really nice and it looks cool, nice, regular acoustic with a normal pick guard. The strings are spaced perfectly for normal playing with a pick or finger picking. The guitar feels like it is really strong and well put together. The weight of the guitar is perfect. As mentioned in another review, it doesn't have all the clear coating on it which I personally do not like on acoustic guitars. With no set up or adjustments, to me, the guitar plays excellent and seems to really project sound out through the sound hole as loud as an acoustic can get with no amp and using the stock strings the guitar came with. Mine stays in tune incredibly, the neck is easy to play and I think the finish is durable, especially after banging it around and it not getting any scratches, marks, nothing. To me, the beauty of Taylors is that you can send it to them, or bring it to them and they will fix it. I live near the factory and that is a plus to me. Something to think about before buying another brand is the service. I know that if my bridge cracks, or whatever, Taylor will fix it for me if it can be fixed.

Always Hated Taylors

I've tried Taylors over the years and always hated the the ton of high-gloss lacquer and never really cared for the sound or playability. I needed a guitar to replace the piece of junk Takamine I kept in my work locker. IN THIS PRICE RANGE, I could not find a Epiphone, Martin, Sigma, etc to touch it. The finish is thin and the unbraced back and sides resonates well. I like it better than the $2K Taylors I tried. I set the 13th fret action, put on a set of Martin 4100s, set the neck relief, and this low-end Taylor is a pleasure to play. It's not in the class of my Gibsons or Martins, but in its PRICE RANGE it may be hard to beat. IMHO

I own Martin, Santa Cruz and Huss and Dalton guitars. To be honest the 110 isn't close to being the league of these guitars. Nor would one expect it to be The low-mid's and low end is so thin that it practically doesn't exist. A lot of people are impressed with brightness. I'm more into balance. However for the professional it is a great spare guitar. I have the built in pickup which has no adjustments. It sounds fine but it can't compete with the higher end expression system or third party pickup systems. I take this guitar on road trips and overall I'm very happy with it. For airplane travel I recommend a Baby Taylor.

CA versus Taylor

Don't get me wrong. This guitar is beautiful, the sound is warm and very pleasant. I would recommend this guitar to anyone. I was playing this fine getar when my buddy began to play a Composite acoustic GX. I stopped playing just to see what he was playing. It sounded great. I was torn between two getars. Being military I went with the GX because it not only met my needs, it was just a better guitar. But I will get one of these someday. Waiting on the next GAS Attack.

I was strumming this guitar at church, and someone several pews back broke off a conversation, commenting, "Excuse me; I have to check this out...I know the sound of a Taylor when I hear one!" It's hard to imagine a more compelling testimony for the Taylor 110: for the price, it's an amazingly bright instrument, with clear, powerful projection. I cannot imagine "graduating" to another guitar. Especially in light of what more expensive instruments cost...I've played different brands costing more than twice what this jewel does, and I simply cannot hear any difference in terms of projection, clarity, brilliance, etc. The Taylor 110 is a modest investment in a lifetime instrument!
