The Nova System is the complete, floor-based effects solution for the dedicated guitar player who knows quality when he sees it. Its unique inclusion of an all-analog programmable distortion/overdrive section under preset and expression control makes it the perfect choice whether you want to trim down your rack setup, step up from your pedal patchwork or simply just want the ultimate combination of operational simplicity and audio superiority.
Add to this an array of effects taken straight from the king of floor-based multi-effect processors; G-System and you have top-notch compression, EQ, noise gate, modulation, pitch, delay and reverb right at your feet. All you need is a guitar and an amp and you're good to go first class.
Genuine, Analog Drive Circuit
What makes Nova System so remarkably different is the NDT - Nova Drive Technology - a unique drive and distortion circuit that gets you the best of both worlds: World-class analog distortion and overdrive with digital control. This is the real deal no modeling. While the NDT is 100 percent analog and physically separated from the digital effects, its control potmeters are digital. This way you can tweak, store and recall as many drive settings as you want - you can even hook up an expression pedal and control the amount of distortion in real-time. Its wide gain range covers your every need from light breakup to heavy distortion.
Top-notch Effects
Equipped with TC branded quality effects from delays and reverbs to compressor, EQ and modulation, the TC Electronic Nova System is the obvious all-in-one effect processor for any guitarist who wants setup simplicity without sacrificing tonal fidelity. All neatly programmable and storable in 60 user presets. Its 30 factory presets give you a demonstration of just what the Nova System provides; great sound quality and an immense versatility of effects combinations all designed to get you started right out of the box.

TC Electronic Nova System Guitar Multi Effects Pedal
This unit is EXTREMELY well made. The craftsmanship is astounding, but I see the parameter knobs breaking off easily as they feel flimsy and cheap.
When I first unpacked this thing and dialed in some patches, I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Of course when I took it to our rehearsal studio to seriously test drive it, it fell flat in every imaginable area.
It sucked the life out of my tone, even with no effects on, and the thing doesn't have a BYPASS function (scary). There was so much volume loss, a 50 watt Marshall Half stack couldn't cut through the mix even with Nova's volume wide open.
The modulation effects are horrid, especially the chorus (which isn't even musical).
I was very happy to return this unit.

The packaging was neat and easy to disassemble. The unit itself is built like a tiny armored truck. Foot switches are seriously robust.
Sound-wise, the unit is usable right out of the box, though I didn't care for the default delay settings or the default reverb settings. These were easily adjusted to taste. As with all multi-effects units, I didn't dig the distortion and the overdrive and chose instead to run my mainstay Radial Hot British in front of my Nova System.
The Chorus ... where do I start? When engineers sat down to design this thing, did they bother listening to the classics? Maybe check out a Small Clone or something? No. Nova System's chorus is atrocious unless you like something that sounds like a weak flanger that modulates badly. Thank goodness the Nova System has a Detune effect, that is very chorus-like and sounds great with distortions and overdrives.
The Boost function is a great idea, and may even eliminate my volume pedal. For me the Nova System will make a great, high-quality, Delay/Reverb/Modulation stompbox with presets thus drastically reducing my pedal tap dancing.
I rated the value kinda low because the chorus is terrible, and the unit is over priced.

I have a G-System, and sometimes, it's just too much stuff and set up to deal with at a gig; so I got the Nova System for road use. It's small, easy to set up, has decent OD/Distortion, and takes pedals before the input well.
I set mine up to use the internal drive effects with maybe Tube Driver just before the input, then out to a clean amp channel. The effects sound great. It can also be set to use an amp's preamp stage, then plugged into the amp's serial effects loop (no killdry, so don't use parallel).
The effects are very similar (in some cases identical) to those on the G-System; with some tweeking, I get a reasonable spring reverb, great modulation effects, and can simulate a Leslie/Univibe sound well enough for stage use. It does have it's own character, like the G-System.
The manual is basic, so you need to play around a bit. But if you've programmed very many of these multi-effect units, you know how to get around. Programming is similar to the G-System, so I was up and running in a few minutes with presets more or less cloned from my G.
Negatives (that don't bother me): no killdry; no real Leslie sim; pain to enter preset names (I don't like knob twirling to enter letters); no wah effect; can't reprogram the foot switched to do other things, so when if "preset" mode, you lose the ability switch compress/reverb/drive on or off: those switches all change preset.

I bought this about two months ago i am in love It honestly is ridiculous. This system can give u great effects and versatility. You can change from soft acoustic sound to a heavy metal tone in the click of a button. The one thing is there are some effects you cant use at the same time like you cant use phaser and flanger at the same time but over all this is just a great product. I love mine and am never giving it up!!!

I got this a couple weeks ago, and so far I've liked a lot of what it has to offer. The Nova Drive section is decent, sounds as good as most pedals until you reach ultra-boutique. The delays are stellar, the reverb is great, the trem sounds nice, and the pitch shifting works well (it's monophonic though). If you send this to 2 amps you will love the stereo sound.
On the negative side: If you plan to use this in front of an amp, you need to know that it is a little noisy, has a little "white noise" that comes through especially at higher volumes. I use it with my Bad Cat Cub II, and thankfully the Cub has a defeatable EQ which fixes this for the most part. If you run flat and properly set the Master EQ on the Nova, then you will have better results. Also, the cabinet modeling sounds bad. I plugged it into my bass player's Event studio monitors and it sounded aweful, so we came up with an EQ setting that works better.
All in all... it sounds better than a Line 6 Pod or a Boss GT of any sort. Definitely Pro quality, but there are still some kinks... TC may release a software update to fix these things and then I'll rate it straight 5's
