Uncompromised effects, loops, amp switching, floor control, and routing flexibility. |
The TC Electronic G-System Integrated Guitar Effects and Controller delivers an uncompromised package of effects, loops, amp switching, floor control, and rig integration. It's equipped with two DSP sections that provide the very highest-quality effects on the market. Choose between a rack and a floor-based setup, decide how the effects are routed, tailor the footswitch layout, and select from more than 25 different onboard effects. And it's all built into a rock-solid roadworthy case with 18 giant chrome switches. Extras include 3-band EQ, a smooth noise gate, MIDI implementation, and a USB port for software updates.
On the Floor or in the Rack?
Do you prefer to have your pedals right next to you or would you rather secure them in your rack? The GFX01 19" 1U effects processor can simply be removed from G-System and rack mounted, leaving the decision up to you. A single cable connects the GFX01 with the G-System floor unit, putting your stomp boxes and messy cables out of sight while keeping the power and control under foot.
Analog "True Bypass" Loops
Preserve your original tone with the four analog true bypass pedal loops, all under preset as well as "on-the-fly" control. A fifth loop can be used for inserting a preamp or a fifth pedal in your setup.
Rock-Solid User Interface
Direct access user interface is via six rotary switch encoders. Not only does the heavy-duty chrome switch protect these encoders housing, but it also protects vital components below. With no vulnerable plastic knobs and no obvious openings, G-System is sealed against dust, dirt, moisture, and spills on stage.
Chromatic Tuner
With the full chromatic tuner you can always keep an eye on your guitar tuning. By pressing and holding the tuner switch, the outputs will mute and precise tuner information will be displayed on the LED. Hitting any switch will instantaneously un-mute the output and send you back into the play mode.
Pre Effects
Effects that are typically used prior to your lead effects are found in the pre effects section. They feature a high-impedance instrument input and full 96kHz/24-bit conversion and processing. This high resolution processing ensures maximum preservation of the guitar's original harmonics, which are vital to the character of any overdrive pedal or preamp.
Filters
The filter section allows you to select between touch and manually controlled filters, ranging from wah wah over formats to high peak resonance filters.
Compression
The compressor section enables perfect dynamic control of the previous filters including a pumping-style compressor or the more transparent compression style that gives smooth dynamic control and lengthy sustain
Analog Pedal Loops
Any disengaged pedal will eat into your guitar tone. The 4 analog loops in G-System give you full preset control as well as on-the-fly enabling/disabling, allowing "true bypass" of any pedal. The fifth loop is custom designed for preamp insertion. The buffered driver design of the insert loop allows extra-long cable runs with no loss of audio quality.
Amp Switching
Four relay switches give you remote analog control of preamps and amps. Relays are under G-System preset.
Post Effects
The post effects section includes all the traditional effects that belong after the "lead" section.
Noise Gate
The post effect section features an ultrafast noise gate allowing removal of background noise from potential high gain pedals or preamps when not playing.
Modulation
Modulation effects of your choice, including the famous TC chorus, flangers, phasers, tremolo, vibrato, and more, are available in the modulation section.
Pitch
The detune feature adds to your stereo image, while whammy and octaves allow for more effected sounds. The regular pitch shifting features up to a 2-octave shift.
Delay
The delay section sports more than 6 different effects, including legendary 2290 dynamic delay, reverse delay, tape echo, and more. All delays feature true "spilover" allowing the repeats of the delay to ring out across any preset change. Tap tempo is included and can of course be tied to MIDI clock.
Reverb
Reverbs from the famous TC pallet are included. Plates, rooms, springs and halls are available in the reverb section, all specifically tuned and tailored for guitar.
But wait there's more . . .
G-System houses many extras. To mention a few, you get an ultrasmooth noise gate and 3-band EQ. A boost function makes your fills or solo stand out at the flick of a switch. All tempo-based effects can be individually controlled by tap tempo or MIDI clock, and numerous parameters are under expression pedal control. The included USB port means you'll be able to keep your G-System up to date with future software releases from TC Electronic.

First let me say that I was discouraged at first. The manual was difficult to understand at best. Just plugging and playing is not going to get the tone you want. If you use the four cable method through the FX loop and have a half decent amp, you'll get pristene cleans and great tone overall. I can honestly say that if mine was stolen I would get another. It's a little pricey but well worth the money!!!!

I have had my G for a few months now and I am very happy with it. The quality of the build and effects are all top notch and the set up I have now is super clean and simple. The unit is also very transparent. I can't tell the difference between when I have it in or out of the loop. It's also awesome to be able to change presets with one switch (amp channel, effects, boost pedals, etc...). It makes playing much less multi-task oriented. I will say this however, make sure your amp has a series loop and not a parallel or you will spend your time trying to fix the problem of the levels and noise than enjoying the unit.

I just received my G-System and all I have to say is WOW! I'm using mine with the controller split from the rack so I have a clean stage set-up. I had to adjust the global levels a bit to get my tone back to where it was without the G-System, but that's something you should expect with ANY multi-effects processor. The G-System has AWESOME effects and they're all highly configurable. I especially love the channel switching features and the insert loop. I'm using the insert loop with the preamp section of my Bogner Uberschall and can't tell a bit of difference when using an empty preset. I've just started getting into all of the things the G-System can do and I'm already amazed. The programming is easy once you understand the concept of editing presets. Other good features are the Factory Preset Lock, Insert Lock and EQ Lock. With those, I don't have to worry about my presets getting confused with factory presets, my preamp getting switched out of the effects chain, or my EQ changing between presets. This is by far the BEST effects processor I have ever used. An added bonus is that the G-System's aesthetic design is absolutely BEAUTIFUL...I mean this thing is PRETTY whether it's sitting at the front of the stage or in your practice space or studio. It's also FUNCTIONAL...one glance at the controller and I know exactly what effects are on and off and exactly which preset I'm using. T.C. Electronics does right by their customers with this product! G-Force and G-Major are OLD NEWS!

I have tried and owned many effects processors over the years of my playing and nothing, I repeat, nothing comes close to comparing with this beast! Everything about it is perfect for what I wanted out of it. The effects sound amazing, the loops are true bypass, the noise gate and compressor are outstanding. All in all the best floorboard I have ever come across. If you have the money I highly recommend it!!!

First I want to say that this unit is not aimed towards the "just plug it in front of the amp and play" people. This is for serious work. Features: Ok, let's start with the effects. It has the studio essentials: Reverb, delay, pitch modulator & bender(for octave lovers), flanger, phaser, chorus, tremolo & vibrato. They sound crystal clear without changing the tone a whole lot like a chain of usual individual pedals. It also has a compressor and a gate with excellent quality. On the wah and filter side, it is obvious that there will be a color change, but no worries, it is all adjustable and tweakable and u can make it sound the way u want. You will not find distortions here as TC engineers expect u to work with your amps preamp first, then ur favorite OD and Distortion pedals like a pro. Also you wont find any amp modelers as u are expected to work with actual amps, not simulations, although u can route the simulations by separate with a V amp, a Pod, black box, sans amp or any other simulator of your choice through loop 5 which I will discuss in a bit. It counts with five FX loops from which three can be controlled real time with the loop switches. These three, should be dedicated for ODs and distortion pedals. The fourth one can be programed with any effect of your preference, and the fifth one is dedicated to handle preamps, like the preamp of an amplifier or amp modelers, although FX pedals can be used here too. It also counts with a relay feature which gives the chance to switch in between amp channels. Also there is a chance to combine up to three different amps. Quality: (Things not to do)Obviously, if it is plugged in front of the amp, it will create hiss as the whole line process goes through the FXs before hitting the preamp, so plz, dont do this, plus, if u plan to use the distortion from ur amp combined with the effects, it will sound really bad. Also if you put it through the FX loop from ur amp and you have the distortion pedals working through the loops from the G system, I can assure by 100% that those pedals will sound terrible as they are not going through the preamp of the amp. (To do) The best scenario to achieve maximum quality minimizing tone coloration an hums is by connecting the guitar to the unit, then run the main amps preamp through the loop 5(preamp loop)(This loop has to be first unlocked and activated). after that, all the outputs can just go straight to the power amp section of your amp. this way all the G system will act like a high tech preamp with FX and FX loops and all the Distortions will go preamp which is the expected scenario. Try this and then u will think twice about rating this unit with a 1. I must say that there is just a bit of coloration on the bypass stage, but it is minimal compared to what normal stomp boxes do to your signal. I have never seen a pedal with that many options and it is just prefect for me. I can just move the unit an customize it however I want. Oh, did I mention I can also customize certain switches to do different other functions different than the factory ones. Price: I made an evaluation of how much it would be to have a system like this with just analog and tube pedals, routers and line selectors and y came up with big numbers, this is why I think the G system is not expensive. I mean, you pay for what you get! Overal. As I said, G system is original, rough built and there is no other unit compared to this one. and please, don't compare it with POD live XT, GNX4, Tonelab SE or zoom, or a pod pro and v amp pro because you would be talking about three very distant worlds. as I said. G system is aimed to professionals who like to be playfull with effects an routing options and is no toy. If it was stolen, I would get another one for sure!!
