Great guitar! Great Price!

I have an older AXIS (the real one as some would call it) and the AX40's features and workmanship live up to that of the more expensive AXIS. The lony downside of this model is presently no additional colors or styles available. A Tobacco Sunburst or Flametop would be nice! One other note, I have seen some comments saying this is exactly the same as the Peavey Wolfgang EXP model. I had one of those in the same color and yes the finish was pretty much the same, but playability was not. Much if the hardware on the EXP Wolfgangs were not as nice as what you will find on the AX40. The Tuners, Licensed Floyd and most of all the unfinished maple neck on the AX40 are much better than the EXP Wolfgang! Just love this guitar!!!

I played this guitar at my local music...

I played this guitar at my local music store and was very impressed. I've seen the Sterling by Musicman guitars before on-line and was curious to see what they were like. The finish on it was very nice looking. When I sat down and played it I was impressed with how comfortable the neck was. The pickups also have a very warm yet clear sound. The only flaw on this guitar was the pickup switch seemed was rather loose but that's probably from it being handled in a store by a lot of people. Overall I was thought this was a very nice guitar for the price and will probably buy one some day.

Some critisize this ax, don't believe it. This is a quality musical instrument. Great craftsmanship, beautiful quilted top, plays like a dream. Don't spend thousands. This IS the real deal, have no fear. Been around guitars 20 years. Buy this one!

Made in Asia. Not for serious players. Made for kids who wish they could afford the real deal. I have the REAL Axis, made in the good old USA, and she plays and sounds amazing! You don't need 15 guitars made in China that play/sound like cra@! I have the American made Axis and Silo Sp. and I can cover almost anything. Do you really think they are going to give you the same sound/quality at a fraction of the cost? Think about it. There is a reason it's cheap. You get what you pay for. Buy the real thing, you won't be disappointed.

great guitar

I tried this at a guitar center because I had looked at it before online, but never been able to find one to play. I'm glad I did! It has a very unique sound, it doesn't sound thin like a strat. It's pretty warm and has a generous amount of wood compared to an Ibanez so it does resonate well, but is extremely light compared to a les paul. The top on it looks great. I think that with top quality pickups and a great setup, this could hold its own with the new wolfgang.
