The ultra high-tech Steinberger Synapse ST-2FPA TranScale Electric Guitar is a professional-quality, full-scale, high-end guitar that's smaller and easier to carry than most travel guitars. Play it open and it's a baritone; roll the built-in capo up a couple of frets and it's a normal 25-1/2" guitar. Add to this Steinberger's brilliant design features such as the tune-it-once direct-drive double-ball bridge with piezo pickup, EMG USA humbucking pickups, fold-down leg rest, and graphite-reinforced neck with ultrafast phenolic fingerboard, and you've got a truly advanced and infinitely playable instrument.

Low-impedance EMG USA humbuckers offer a broader bandwidth for unique and robust tone and are mounted on stabilizers that keep them from tilting.

Improved intonation from a zero fret. Unique Steinberger Combo headpiece improves balance, ease of tuning, and tuning stability while the patented Direct-Drive double-ball bridge lets you change strings in seconds then tune up once and not have to tune again until you change strings.

Modern beauty w/solid performance

I always wanted one of these and I finally sprung for a black one. This is a great little guitar for just playing and having fun with. It's not supposed to be like any other guitar and it isn't. It has great sound, and it stays in tune for a long long time, which by itself is great. It plays great, and the sliding capo works beautifully! It's a guitar to do what guitars are for, Have Fun! I'm very happy with mine! I run it through my PodLiveXT and play for hours. It fits the "alternative" mode very well in looks and sound. I'm surprised at how good it is honestly. If you've always wanted one, Get it.

Transcale

Bought a black Transcale & case recently. Was disappointed at first. The capo guide grooves had some unpainted portions. The capo was plastic & looked breakable. (Why not a stainless steel frame?!?! I've ordered a extra capo & a couple rubber rollers while they're still making them). Was annoyed by the capo's neck groove at first. Now I don't notice it much; and it is a sure grip that you get. The capo would suck the high E string in to the space between capo & neck while moving the capo upwards. (Hold the strings right above the fret you're going up to, and they'll stay put.) Neck radius was comfortable. Good action and intonation. The offset board markers took a little getting used to. The string tensioners are very good. It stands upright against a wall. All my other guitars were in peril when leaned. The leg rest works well. I don't like the front strap holder, but it works fine and isn't 'really' in the way. Gig bag is good quality, and the hardshell case well worth. Amp-ed, w/o effects, it had a voice & gave a good range of tones. The piezo gives some very interesting sounds. I enjoy the open 'baritone D'. A very stable, playable, & user friendly guitar. Expensive & homely, but a lot of musical fun.

I have waited almost 30 days to get strings for this guitar. They are on back order. I would never recomend this guitar to anyone. The light guage are worthless on this transcale model. The baritone strings are to thick. The standard strings they dont stock. This guitar sits now because you can't provide me with strings. Never never again will I buy from you again! Good bye!

Close but no cigar

A very practical guitar in many ways: solid tuning, portable, versatile, well-balanced, hidden plug input, good strap hooks. However, it would be nice to be able switch the active pickups to passive when a battery starts to go and to disengage the battery without unplugging the cord. Quality control is not what it should be either. The detent of the low EQ pot was barely detectable and milling of the fret edges poor. The high “E” string often got caught on the edge of the 4th fret. I opted for a Deluxe Strat and feel I good more guitar for about the same amount of money—plus a wammy bar.
