To Start, this guitar is very unique and cool looking. I read tons of reviews and did alot of reasearch to make sure i knew if it was what i wanted. Long story short,i was not happy with it. Ever. I figured swapping the pickups in it for some better ones in it would make me like it more. It didnt. There is so much crap to deal with on this guitar i just got tired of it and got something that requires less maitinence. The problems were that the guitar was just poorly made and/or just the fact that the trem had to be calibrated every time it was tuned.(Unless you keep it locked, but then what the point of it being there in the first place) Then there was the fact that it can only use double ball strings... Overall, this guitar was way more maitinence then what i bargained for. If your looking for just pure looks this is your guitar. If your looking for something for everyday play and all around playability then get something else.

I don't know if this is wide spread but it appears the bridge is mis-located. The balls on the strings do not go inside the bridge completely. In fact new D'Addario's would not stay in the saddles. Musian's Friend replaced with a new instrument with no problem. However the replacement instrument was also the same. I am now waiting on a different brand instrument. There is no set up on them. This was to be expected and not a problem for me. Playability was good after setting up. The pickups are ok but not great. I already have EMG's to install. It is a great disippointment that Steinberger's quality control is this poor.

Most comfortable guitar I have ever played with easiest access to the upper frets. I didn't like the passive pickups so I replaced them with a set of EMG SLV/SLV/85s. If you've ever changed pickups on a strat this is an easy conversion. There isn't really room for a battery, so I use an external pack. I love the locking bridge. It's like a floyd-rose and a fixed bridge rolled into one. This is my favorite guitar. I also own an ESP LTD EC-1000 Deluxe. At more than twice the price it is a very nice guitar, but I still play this one more.

Excellent travel guitar

I purchased a GT-Pro back in 2002, and it has been an excellent travel guitar. I'm an airline pilot, and this guitar has indeed survived much abuse, pressure and temperature variations. Solid gear and very dependable. Pickups are fairly neutral in tone, but I can shape them to my taste with the PX4 pandora processor I use it with on the road. Tuning is very stable, and the trem works very well. Love the trem lock feature and the capability to change tuning on all strings simultaneously. Recommend you buy the standard string adapter to use standard strings. I've tried all the travel guitars out there, and this is simply the best bang for the buck!
