I have a real weakness for big blocks of wood shaped into guitars. I love my beat-up old '59 Junior and the MIM Tele I bought a few years ago is still the first guitar I reach for these days. But I wanted some humbuckers and while out looking for an Epi SG or something like that, I stumbled onto this Squier. Two humbuckers: check. Big block of wood: double check. Feels as solid as a 2x4 with strings. Played better than that though, with a nice acoustic clarity (Hint: don't buy any electric that doesn't sound nice unplugged. Pickups can't fix this.) and nice jumbo frets. AND it was cheap. Sold! After a few weeks at home though (and a proper setup), I've decided that the 'hi-output humbuckers' (I think they're ceramics) aren't my cuppa tea (you're free to disagree though) but that will soon be easily remedied with some 'vintage' p/u's and a soldering iron, making it a fine bargain of a guitar that's uniquely mine. Wish it came in more colors though.

Telecaster Custom - simply great!

As someone who played mostly HB-equipped guitars (Les Paul, SG, Flying V) and wanted to get a more country-bluegrass friendly sound, I was at first skeptical about this guitar. I wanted some fender twang, but I didn't want to leave my HB security blanket. Well, this guitar does exactly what I hoped it would! Despite the fact that it uses the traditional Les Paul, SG, EXP, etc setup, the characteristic Fender Telecaster tone still shines through, in a totally noiseless way. So if you want a guitar that you can twang away with at church, then take home and rock out with in your basement - this is it. Ultimate versatility! Stunning looks! You won't be disappointed.

OK, I'm not a big fan of Teles, never have been. I have always played Strats. I bought the Squier Classic Vibe 60s Strat because I was so impressed with the quality. I got a wild hair and decided to try this guitar and see just how good Squier quality was across the board. I wound up buying it. The neck feels really good, not too thick or thin. The fretwork was great with no sharp end and everything was level. The pots aren't scratchy and the switch works without noise. The finish on the maple neck is smooth and not sticky. The pickups are not hot, closer to vintage output, but are fine for me. Cleans tones are clear and using the neck or both pickups yeilds nice, fat tone. Add a little overdrive and it gets nice and chewy. The tuners are adequate and hold tune well and the nut is not bad. If I were going to replace anything it would be the tuners and the nut, but only because of personal preference. If you are like me and have never really gotten into Teles, or if you are just wanting to try one without dropping a lot of cash, this or the one with the P-90s is the way to go. It's not traditional Tele and it bridges the gap between what you may already play and traditional Telecasters.

I found this guitar on a auction web site that rhymes with Eday, got it cheap, barely used.I was impressed, great sounding humbuckers,500k volume and tone pots.Got great action out this thing, plays like a dream now.Was gonna upgrade some things, but it's fine the way it is.I've been playing guitar seriously, and I know how to set them up,been doing it for 27 years(since I was 11 years old).Even if I paid full price this guitar would have been worth it! No guitar comes out of the factory set up perfect.Once you get this ax set up you'll love it.Good clean sounds, good dirty sounds, good sustain! I still can't beleive I'm playing a squire! I own a 1992 Les Paul classic plus, american strats, tele's,and I put equal amount of playing time with the squire.Learn how to set up a guitar on your own,the only person who knows how you want a guitar to feelis YOU!

Great Guitar

I was looking for a cheap nice guitar to jam on and I came across the Tele Custom by Squier . From the first time I picked it up I knew this was the one . I played both the Fender 72 HH and the Squier and thought the Squier played better ( or at least to my playing style ) . For the price it was a no brainer . If any pet peeves it would be that some of the fit and finish is lacking like a few crooked screws holding the pick guard ( have to look carefully) and such. For the money you just can't pass it up if you play rock , punk , grunge or anything else heavy . Plus with the sound from the nickel pickups it would make a perfect guitar for blues or jazz. A great all arounder . Plays way better than what you'd expect from a Squier.
