I have this Tele Squier, bought in Jan 2010. Sounds great. It's built in China, and a there is a symptom of the assembly line process: the frets extend just a hair out into the neck, on each side of your hand, so maybe some sandpaper, or a tap hammer, would flatten these out. Otherwise great value.

This Retro Rocks!

With it's retro look, the Tele never really called to me. I played one in a music store and had to admit, I liked it. Still not completely convinced, I ordered the Squire Standard, figuring that, if I was unhappy, I wasn't out an arm and a leg. I love it. My Strat and SG sit unused while I "play" with my Tele. It has just the right mellow tone. The fingerboard, yes, rosewood, is forgiving to these ancient fingers. This is the one!

Walnut Stain Squire Cool!

I bought this guitar because it reminded me of Jimmy Page and George Harrison's Rosewood Tele's. This one has the walnut stain finish that looks and feels very comfy (and will probably look cooler with age as apposed to the heavy poly finish the others come with). The neck had a couple of high frets that needed to be filed down for optimal string bending. Other than that, it's a very function "retro" looking Tele. I'm thinking about throwing in a high output stacked bridge pickup for some added sustain. Great guitar for the price.

Great for the Budget Spender

I wanted a guitar that plays well clean. I have others that just do not have the sound that I am looking for. This Squier Tele gives me the sound that I want for a cheap price. This Tele is just as good as the Mexican tele's that I have played. I would suggest changing the strings asap and lowering the action a bit. Overall a great guitar for the budget spender.

Only problem I had was the color. Vintage blonde turned out to be MUCH more yellow than the one in the picture. Its still a pretty sweet color thought.

Great Tele for the Price

I got a used blonde one ('01 model). I found it in a swap shop for a great price but it really needed TLC. After cleaning it up, tightening the truss rod, restringing and fixing the jack it plays great. This from an 8 year old axe that looked like the owner never wiped down the rosewood fingerboard! It plays great! That's a real testament to the quality of these Teles.

I've got several other Teles - MIM and a USA - and this comes close. You could put on better tuners (although the stock ones work well) - and maybe upgrade the bridge pup. OTher than that it's a keeper! I would gig with this - no problem.
