This Avenger 50 tube guitar amp gives you pure distilled Soldano overdrive tone, and if that's the sound you gotta have, this is the amp for you—a 50-watt amplifier head with the SLO-100 overdrive circuit and no channel switching to complicate things. Stripped to the bone, this simplified signal path also improves dynamic response for a punchier sound.

The Soldano Avenger's High and Low gain input jacks provide the option of using the full SLO lead circuit or skipping the first gain stage for a darker crunch. In addition to the preamp Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Master Volume and Presence controls, a Depth control is included for boosting low end, and a rotary impedance selector switch allows the use of 4-, 8-, or 16-ohm speaker cabinets. The amp head uses 5881/6L6 power tubes, like the SLO.

This amp blew me away. It has more gain than I could ever use and there are no bad tone settings. Features got a 4.5 because it has all the features I was looking for not necessarily all the features out there. It's half the price of the SLO and when I opened it up all the soldering was very clean and everything was solid. I've read everywhere that this amp has the same circuit as the SLO but there is a difference. The SLO has a clean channel that is never off so despite playing the lead channel there is still the clean channel running parallel which alters the tone ever so slightly. I've owned this amp for a year and I highly recommend this amp however if you want reverb, effects loops, or multiple channels look to one of the other Soldanos.
