Seagull Artist Series Portrait Cutaway Acoustic Guitar. Just got this guitar a week ago. I went to two guitar shops and played every acoustic I could. The tone of this guitar is very balanced. The lows are a little subtle but after hearing some guitars with overpowering lows I think I prefer the subtlety. The highs are bright without sounding tinny. Workmanship seems very good, and set up was decent. Overall, I would not hesitate to reccomend this guitar to anyone. Tone is a very preferential thing, and some people like stronger lows, but I like the balance this guitar has. I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely buy this guitar again.

I bought this guitar the last time I got back from Iraq, I was not in a rush to get one and I did not want to spend 1000$, but as soon as I started playing it I knew it was mine, and I could not leave the store without it. I brought it with me to Iraq this time and I am amazed everyday. It doens't have the bass response of some other models that it is comparable to. But it also doesn't have the price. You could get a Martin in the same price range and it may have better low end and bass response, but I know it won't have as beautiful a finish, or electronics that are even 1/4 as good. I use a Tascam digital 8-track and have used several other digital recoding studios and no acoustic is better suited for recording. Unless you have the means and money to go out and mic up a vintage Gibson and use an analog studio. But for the rest of us, this guitars bread and butter is digital recording and live sound. It can stand the trials of traveling across the world too, I know, in the past year I have taken it two 5 different countries already.

A great hand-made acoustic guitar.

I have had this guitar for about a year and a half. I was in the market for a nice solid top acoustic, but I was disappointed with a lot of models from other brands in the $1,000 to $2,000 price range. A friend of mine referred me to the Seagull line, which I had never heard of. It did not take long for me to realize what a great guitar this is and what an incredible value it is. These guitars are all hand made in the Canadian town of LaPatrie, Quebec. The level of craftsmanship on this instrument is unheard of in guitars twice the price. Also, the tone! Oh my god, the tone! This guitar has become my most cherished and played (right along with my Gibson Les Paul electric). I would recommend this great acoustic guitar to any one who is looking for a great value on an extremely well made and great sounding guitar, who does not need to have a household name printed on the headstock (which I admit I am guilty of some times myself)
