Not too bad, but not the best

I've encountered same problems with frets on two schecters I own - maybe they are too high. I have to raise the action and I don't like it. The other thing I hate is the harshness of the bridge EMG 707 on my guitar.

I've had this guitar for a little under a year now, and, for the most part, am very happy with it. Playability, tone and quality control are well above average. On the downside a couple of frets started to buzz after awhile so I raised the action a little. Unfortunately this really hindered my ability to play leads so I lowered it again a week ago but now one of the frets is about half dead. Since I doubt the problems I mentioned here are not widespread on this model I'm not going to give this guitar a bad review, but would have preferred this particular one to have had a little more attention to the neck prior to being shipped from the factory.

This guitar is crafted beautifully and truly has wonderful metal tones. BUT the strings are spaced to far apart and it makes it difficult to play fast and clean. Other Ibanez 7 strings I have played I have not encountered this problem. I bought this guitar to go on a US tour with a metal band and If I were to have another chance at buying a 7 I would NOT purchase this guitar again unless they respaced the strings and made the neck a little smaller (vertically).

This guitar is amazing. Right out of the box I was amazed by how majestic it looked, and the tone and quality of sound was astonishing even through a low-end practice amp. The seventh string was new for me but it is easily incorporated into almost any style I can play, and is specially awesome for the low end chords used in a lot of technical deathmetal bands (dropped top string to A and raised 3rd string to G# to for playing Nile) Best Guitar I've ever played and I'm glad to have owned it for this long. Shecter FTW

Great Guitar

This guitar does many things well. I play Dream Theater and it just wrenches out those super low tones on The Dark Eternal Night and other songs employing seven strings...I also play in my church's praise band and it sounds very warm with cleans. I prefer all of my sounds with some chorus and a bit of delay to add some more depth, and the active pickups send it a great clear signal already, so it's even better. Love the EMG-707 pickups, they are very intense when they need to be and beautifully clean when they need to be. 3 way toggle switch is good, but I personally hardly use any other position but the bridge pup because I normally play heavy stuff and need the quick availability of pinch harmonics and soaring leads too, so until I get really fast at changing pup settings, I don't mess with it too much. Really my only complaint is that I wish it had better high fret access, because when I try to play runs that stay up in the 19-24 fret range, my hand gets squashed sometimes when I'm up on 24, but I may just have bigger hands than normal, I'm a tall guy so it may just be me. Overall great guitar, love the tone, but you need to get it in black cherry because it is like your guitar's body is a container of some mystic crimson liquid that everyone must ask about. Looks great in lighting to where you can really see it shine.
