Barely Decent

Basically, this is only a guitar that can look pretty on a wall, from a distance. I mean, it sounds alright, the pickups are wayyyy too hot, but this thing plays worse than a beginner guitar. The action has to be really high to keep it from buzzing very much, and it still buzzes on the frets. I took it down to a luthier and even he could'nt get any improvement. Other than that, the laquer was all cracked up all over the base of the neck, and the black chrome hardware is waaay to soft, a screwdriver will destroy it, and even though its a hardtail, it will not stay in tune over a half hour. Not worth the price at all.

Something not mentioned...

I had to come back and leave a 2nd review. I have had the guitar now for just about 2 months. I was giving it it's 1st good wipe down when I noticed a small blemish in the finish on the backside of the bottom horn. The blemish changes nothing, the guitar is still great. Of course having only bought 2 guitars via the internet and both came with issues I will not buy a guitar with out actually holding it ever again, but my reason for coming back and writing a 2nd review is because while I was checking out the guitar even closer I just happened to notice that the quilted top is ONE PIECE! That's right, one piece! This was not mentioned on any of the sites carrying this guitar and not on Schecter's site either. I doubt I just got lucky, so I would bet that all these things have one piece quilted tops. The last time I checked one piece quilted tops only come on guitars costing well over $2500. Thanks Schecter for making the best guitar I've ever held in my hands!

Awesome guitar for this price. The pics don’t do it justice. Once I got a good look at it in the light I was amazed at it’s beauty (mine’s Cayman Blue). When I plugged it in I was blown away. The sound is incredible, especially from the insane bridge p-up. With my Line 6 Spider Jam at half volume, this thing was insane. Excellent hardware & electronics. I was very surprised by the blues tone this guitar has. This is one AWESOME guitar.

My friend has been playing for 20+ years & he said it’s the best guitar he’s played in years. WOW!

I was actually looking to buy a ESP EC500. The store didn't have it so I was about to get a Epiphone Custom LP when I saw this on the shelf. I played it and was blown away by how it sounded. The pickups scream and harmonics come out amazing. The clean sounds come out clear and warm. The split coil option is great. Looks awesome too!

more like a snow tiger

I always thought Schecter guitars were USA-made, but mine is Korean. Everything else is as advertised, although my snow leppard quilt finish is more like a gray and black tiger-stripe(reminds me of my cat) flame. It's ok, but different; I expected a quilt verneer.

As with most current imports, the guitar's factory specs leave the string action a bit too high for practical, 4-hour gig use, and when the action is lowered, there's that nagging fret buzzing right around and between the 7th and 12th frets; the kind of problem only solvable by a costly guitar technician, since the factory won't set it up any other way.

Other than that, it's a well-constructed guitar, still very beautiful, and sounds great.
