I bought this based on Roland's reputation for quality and my past positive experience with Roland/Boss effect pedals. First, the housing and construction are very solid with corner guards and sturdy knobs. Second, the sound quality for a unit of this size and price is very good.
The clean channel is not outstanding, but is what one would expect from a modestly priced amp. Clean has a wide frequency range, good responsiveness without breaking up, and excellent signal to noise ratio.
The lead channel is particularly impressive and several of the presets are truly outstanding. Specifically, the distortion, metal, and metal stack. These three presets offer beautiful crunch, gain, and sustain for challenging rhythm and lead guitar work. With a touch of echo added, the sound of these three presets alone is well worth the price of the amp. If you like 80's heavy metal, then you will love the sound of "metal stack" - truly awesome. The headphone jack, when used, mutes the 8" speaker and allows for a super sonic experience when rocking through the headphones.
The effects are average, but sound decent. There are practically no parameter adjustments for any of the effects (but this is OK given the low price of the amp). I found the chorus and delay to sound quite nice. The flanger and reverb did not suit my taste.
The amp has a built-in tuner which works perfectly. Overall, the Roland Cube 20x is a superb value. You get a very clean, attractive, and well-built amp that sounds good for all presets, and incredible for the harder rock tones.

I got this amp last week, it was freaking loud for a 20Watt amp, sounds great, effects almost as good as the BOSS pedals (metalzone) bang for the buck but who would not want this to go any cheaper?
Roland could add more effects.

My favorite thing about this amp is that it is only 20 watts. You can drive it hard and get great tones without losing your hearing. I also I also own a Vox AD30XL and a 30 watt Line 6 Spider II. While I like both of those amps, this amp seems to fit perfectly between them. Not as digital sounding as the Line 6, and not as spongy as the Vox. I also own a 100 watt Marshall combo, but all of these amps are just too loud for me to record with. I especially like the acoustic simulator because now I can play along to these songs without having to buy an acoustic-electric. No, it doesn't sound as authentic as the real thing but in times like these it is good enough for now. The built-in tuner is also a big reason I bought this amp. Considering everything this amp offers, and the great tones it produces, I believe this was one of my better musical purchases. Only had it for a few weeks but seems very solid and reliable.

I have had this amp for about a month and it Rocks! Much louder than my old one and much better tone. The two channel system works very well, and I really like the fact that when you switch channels the effects stay the same. The clean channel is perfect for effects pedals and the lead channel SCREAMS. However, you can't really max out the volume without using the power squezer (which is awesome). But over all a great amp for practice and small gigs.

I just purchased this amp because of the advise of the local music stores owner. I was originally looking at a Marshall MG30FX which was about 65$ more, but he talked me into trying this little beauty. What can I say besides WOW. Huge sound, great effects on a budget and a great clean channel. This amp is plenty loud for small gigs and perfect for practice. If your looking for a great amp this baby will give you more bang for your buck than anything else out there in its class.
