Effects include many favorite analog stompboxes and 2-tap chorusing, an echo-like delay, reverb, pitch shift, tremolo, dual-mode phaser, compressor, frequency-programmable wah, and 2-tap flanger. The speaker simulator section provides parameters for speaker size, mic placement, and Rocktron's patented Reactance parameter. Full MIDI functionality includes 8-parameter continuous control and mapping. The optional All Access footcontroller unlocks other control features such as preassigned effects, on/off, and boost functions as well as titles that transfer from the VooDu to All Access. 1/4" and XLR outputs with level control plus headphone output.

There is a reason this preamp is still around. Quality. I had a Digitech GSP2101 for years for my effects...I would have to say that the Digitech was better in the effects section (not by a *ton* but it was superior) but this unit is better as an all in one solution where you need TONE. You WILL have to tweak this...but with a little time invested in the manual you will be richly rewarded by a versatility you will not be able to get with your amp and pedals unless you are carrying a truckload of stuff. I run this thru 5150 4x12's, Marshall 4x12's, Eminence, Celestions, Weber...whatever. It sounds GREAT. And solved a lot of my pedal tap dancing issues.I have owned Marshall, Mesa, Voodoo Labs pre, custom made PTP amps...I Love this. Sounds like a real amp. Perfect compromise of versatility and tone. Run it into a Mesa 2:90. Sick.

I recently bought this preamp, and I'm really happy with it. At first I was frustrated because there are so many parameters to adjust, it's easy to get a bad sound with it. But after doing some research on frequencies and tweaking the presets I was able to get the awesome metal tone I've been searching for. The reason I got this is because I was unhappy with my amps distortion sound, and I really wanted effects. Now I just run the voodu valve through the power section of my amp and it's like I have a completely different amplifier. This is a really great all in one package, the tones are good, the effects are good. Overall it was a good buy. Now I can focus on getting another guitar instead of having to buy a whole nother amp.

Voodu great for metal

This is a great sounding unit. This thing is all about metal/hard rock tones. I play it through a roctron 100 watt power amp into a marshall 1960a cab (with the speaker emulator off). This is how it was meant to be played. People that knock this thing usually don't set it up right, or realize what a preamp is. All you really need to do is turn down the effects levels on most of the programs and it sounds great. It would be even cooler if there was a presence knob on the front panel. I would have also liked a 1/4 input on the back of the unit so it can be more easily linked to other stuff in my rack. But these are minor problems considering all you get for so little of money. You'll hear some dudes start blathering about how a triaxis with a g-magor sounds better, but they also cost exponentially more. The voodu is the best preamp in its price range.

The amp that beats them all

I have owned this AMP since 1997. I owned Line6 pods: sold them. Bought Peavey Bass/Keyboard amp...: sold it. Used to play Marshall tops before, sold those too. It just doesn't compare with the sounds you get out of this one. The standard presets are just OK, but go to the Rocktron site and use the PatchBay, you can download sounds/banks from other users and load them straight into your Valve. Many times it has revived my joy in playing, listening to others' sounds and just GO! At the moment I record only, use a Fender prodigy with EMG double wound pick-ups (Lukather model), straight into my mixing console. Also play an Ibanez thin body cut-away nylon guitar through it, it is soooo smooth.... If you are looking for a good versatile pre-amp: this is it.

This is absolutely the best preamp I have ever used. I can get absolutely any sound I want out of this baby, I just couldn't be happier with it. The secret is the eq section...it is simply in a league of its own. Don't expect this amp to do any "modeling" though...You've gotta know what you want before it will deliver, but you'll figure it out easy enough. I just cant recommend this preamp enough to anyone wanting killer tone and ultimate flexibility!
