PUNCH!

Okay,I've had a pair of these for about 6 months now and I am in love. I mean I completely agree withe the reviewer complaining about the vinyl covering, but hey! Look at the price.I won't even knock it down for that because bottom line the sound is just how I like it. Very resonsive to what ever I put through it. I have the big gig rack with a Carvin Tube 100 and Alembic preamp and it has yet to fail to handle the power. I also use them with my small gig set up which is a Crate Power Block and little Korg multi effects pedal. Sounds so good I can't believe it. But that get's back to the responsiveness thing I was talking about. They just seem to give every detail in such incredible warmth and (yes) punch. In your face. I'm a bonafied low end freak and I have never owned speakers that I felt like,Whoa!,that might be too much. Okay, except when I used to schlep a Peavey 18"bass reflex cabinet around for a sick bi-amped effects fest.Trust me,these guys are WAY easier to transport. And that counts.

If at First You Don't Succeed . . .

I ordered a pair of these and one was bad. It made a funny buzzing sound but the other one sounded quite good. I returned the bad one for ANOTHER and it too was making it's own weird buzzy rattling sound as well. So then I sent THIS ONE back and yes - third time was a charm. These are very good sounding guitar cabs once you get a good working one (or pair). I'm running mine through a Rocktron Prophesy into a Mesa 50/50 is stereo and they are excellent sounding speakers IMHO. Very full, very fat and present. Incredible low end response. I find I need to roll off some of the low end, but once you dial that in they give a great "stack" sound for a wide variety of clean and driven tones for ANY electric style. Highly recommended from a full time gigging & recording pro of 30+ years.

I bought this cabinet new to use with my Epiphone Valve Jr. Head. For about the first year I was very pleased with it. My “mini stack” had very good tone. The cabinet had very good tone and projection with other heads as well. After about a year, however, it developed a really bad speaker/cabinet rattle, which was so bad it rendered it useless. It would rattle even at a low volume. Perhaps I got a lemon, but I wouldn’t recommend it due to its reliability. When it was working fine without any rattles, it had very good sound though.

Blown Away

I was really tired of the years of headaches my 4x12 cabinets had given me... let's see: 1) damn heavy 2) the ones that sound good are expensive 3) people seem to think the expensive ones make good places to put beers on stage 4) On a small stage, a 4x12's sound hits you in the back of the legs, meaning that while you are barely hearing yourself, you are causing a seismic event across the room.

So with some reservations I got a pair of these, thinking that they would solve these problems and I could EQ out any tone problems that came up.

Wrong. These sounded better than just about any 4x12 under they "boutique" mark that I've heard. In fact, and some may scoff at this, I A/B'd them against my Marshall JCM800 cab in my studio and I liked these better. These cabs really have a great midrangy guitar tone, and I love them.

I don't know if I ended up with a lighter, more portable rig though, as I carry four of them around...

Better than expected

It seems to me like bands with just one guitar player are becoming an endangered species. I'm in a actively gigging club band as a solitary guitar player and hate not getting a decent monitor mix. This product allowed me to due away with the sound guy. I play a Mesa Triple Rec half stack with eminence speakers in a 4x12. I pre purchased the same eminence speakers for the two rocktron cabs I bought, but since I've received them, I decided to keep the stock speakers in. That's how good they sound. The ONLY complaint I have is that these are not carpet covered. Carpet is the only material that is tough enough for gigging. How did tolex and vinyl get so popular? Buy these and you won't be disapointed.
