I bought this pedal used after having it and using it for 2 months, I would pay the full price if I had to. Well worth your money. Very Customizeable. easy to customize too. Great, easy to use features. Doesn't take up space, and now I only need one unit!

I thought this unit had the best heavy rock sounds for direct recording in it's price range. After several months I had a problem with a strange error message. I emailed Rocktron customer service and immediately shipped out a replacement. Excellent customer service that you don't get with all manufacturers!

There's not enough words to describe the incredible sound from the Rocktron Utopia G100 Guitar System, particularly for hard rock guitar. I've known about the Rocktron sound for many years, as I heard one of my buddies, who is also one of my favorite guitar players, lead his band for years with one of the most authoritative guitar tones I've ever heard. He was using a Rocktron ProGAP (an item which is now discontinued). The thing absolutely shook the walls. Years later, I found a ProGAP in a pawn shop, resoldered all the switches (as they had been abused and destroyed), and I finally had that sound myself. Now, several years later, Rocktron has made the ProGAP crunch available, as well as other sounds that far outshine that original crunch, both in tone and programmability. This unit also includes all the compression, delay, reverb or phasing you will ever need, as well as the famous Hush noise reduction which is second to none. On top of all that, you can record DIRECT with more accurate miked amp sound than I've even heard in a miked amp!! The speaker simulation allows combinations of speakers and mic placement to suit any taste. I can go direct to my recording board, have perfect sound every time, and bypass all the delays and headache of miking a loud amp. This unit is simply amazing, in more ways that I can mention.
HOWEVER... there are two major drawbacks.
1. There is no internal tuner. With almost every stompbox in the world including an internal tuner, this is a major omission. Especially for someone trying to lighten and downscale their gear for live performance.
2. This unit needs at LEAST 3 "preset" pedals, for instant access to channels. The "scroll and enable" is a bit clumsy for fast channel changes when you're in the middle of a ripping performance.
That's all the goods and bads. Goods outweigh the bads by far, but I think if they make the small changes to the G100 MkII, it will be the PERFECT hard rock guitar unit.

i love this unit! it sounds like a great amp with tasteful effects. many multi pedals are so over the top that they are not practicle. the hush nr can be set so the patches clean up when you turn down the guitars volume. the recal button works like the "previous channel" button on your tv remote. very fat dynamic sound.

I am writing this to review it for what it is, not what it isn't. In other words it is not a Marshall Stack running at 11. Enough said. This is easily one of the best all in one pedals available. Especially in it's price range. Take a few minutes to tweak the presets to more of your liking and you'll be happy. I noticed the preset volume difference between a clean tone and dirty tone was too much. But not a big deal to change and save. Without use of the manual it took me only a few minutes to set things right. To make it easier I use also have an external delay pedal and chorus pedal in the chain. Gives me a bit more on-the-fly control at the touch of my foot. If you really aren't sure about the purchase just go check it out for yourself at your local shop. It's worth a listen/look see.
