Good sustainer

I bought one and it lasted a day. I e-mailed rocktron that night and by 9:00 am the next morning I got a reply. I told them it quit and they sent me a new one immediatly and told me to keep the old one. I do electronic repair and I will keep it for spare parts.....

Anyway, this thing I beleive, is a great design. It does not Squash. It boosts, then as the chord starts to fade it keeps it level without noticable attenuation. There is no tone loss.

There maybe some quality control problems with componets and such, but the theory behind it is excellent. The aluminum box I like. It is a great looking and usable design. There is room in the unit to do repair and mods if a guy wanted to.

Inside the box is one board that contains everything but the switch which mounts to the chassis. Cool. Pots can be replaced fairly easy along with resistors. The switch detaches from the board by way of connector. The jacks are board mounted. Great design.

Tried this pedal for a few days. Right out of the box had a strong electrical smell unplugged. Plugged in the smell was worse. Compression was okay when it worked, but....... Only worked with guitar or bass volume wide open. Several times, the sound completely disappeared then mysteriously reappeared moments later. VERY flukey. Sent it back.

Hissssssss

When OFF - sucks your sound out badly - unusable. When ON - Hiss, hiss, hiss, but excellent compression, beefs up your sound with plenty of punch and warmth. Couldn't use it on accoustic-electric - too much hiss, even at the lowest settings. Didn't even try it on the electric after hearing the hiss.

I played this with a Fender Tele thru a Fender Hot Rod tube amp and a Peavey Studio Pro using all the settings I could. It picks up radio signals and blasts them thru the amps, robs the use of the volume control on the guitar, Its either wide open or nothing and practically eliminates the sound of the B& E strings.

Tone sucker!

It sounds okay when on, but when off it totally robs you of tone and presence. This makes it totally unusable unless you are going to engage it all the time. I also found that it did a worse job on guitar than my old one knob compressor.
