Why not more being played out?

The 620 is an amazing guitar. I considered a few other models including Fender American Tele before purchasing the Ric. I find through a 65 Twin Reverb, the sound is really hot, great mids, highs and you can overdrive it and get gritty with tremendous clarity. I mildly process with an MXR SuperComp, MXR analog delay and a small amount of Boss SuperChorus dialed in with tone control. The sound is deep, thick and haunting when I want it. A little verb or tremolo kicked in and wahow. It is a suprise and a shame that this very versatile Ric isn't out more - it is easy playing, very fast and one of the most affordable Rickebackers in the line. Pure American and purely quality. A+ with honors.

Bought this black 620 used and have never looked back. Why do you not see more of them? This is a top-notch guitar. Fast neck, light, soft action… single-coil pickups give sound that is crisp, tight, and balanced… has a midrangey honk that is all its own. It purrs when run through a valve amp turned up just enough to break up. Superior guitar in every way.

Shocked to find Rics in stock. I ordered this in Fireglo, though Midnight Blue was growing on me. Has the classic Ric sound and jangle, with a bit more sustain than the hollow models. The shape is also growing on me. The action is a bit higher than I like, but it feels, plays and sounds great. I've got other Rics on order since 2006! So get these while they're in stock or you may be waiting awhile. Peace.

I own a left handed 1986 maple 620 and must agree that it is a wonderful sounding and playing instrument. I also own a ton of vintage Gibsons and a few Fenders as well and this is certainly the most distinctive visually. I've been playing professionally for 40 years and I can assure you, you will love this guitar.

Stand alone tone!

Nothing sounds like a Rickenbacker. The tone of this guitar is simply awesome. My main axe for leads is my PRS custom 22. But for a change in tone, I go to my 620 Ric. This thing in midnight blue turns heads. It looks and plays vintage. Thanks for the great recomendation. Great guitar. Totally American the only way!
