First off, I am fourteen years old, but that does not make my review unhelpful. I went into a music store and I saw the Ric 325. I loved the vintage, old-style look. Plus, since I have small hands, the neck and weight was perfect for me. I plug it into a small fender amp. It sounded awesome, it played awesome, and it felt awesome. I just wanted to walk out of the store with it. I am saving my money up for this guitar.

I have wanted to own this guitar since childhood. This is one those guitars that you buy simply to "HAVE IT" ...not necessarily to play it. It plays well, but again...its a piece of "history" if you are a Beatles fan. Also, you have to remember that it is built on the same frame as the original and music was much different back then. The guitar is not going to give you 2008 performance but it is still a piece of history! Its like a "signed" Babe Ruth card!

this guitar is great. no problems ever. i have the john lennon edition of this guitar and i have a vox ac 30 like the beatles used too. sound is great. fel is great. everything about this guitar is great. one thing though its not too much of a lead guitar in my opinion. It is a short scale guitar and the frets are small so its more of a rhythm guitar. If you have the money get it.

I bought This Guitar last year in April.I had wanted this guitar since before I could even play guitar, the images were just tattooed in my mind....This guitar is the whole reason I really started playing.....and after five years of playing, and a whole life dreaming of owning a 325...I finally got one like I said last april.....When I got it,it was truly a magical day.It came two days earlier that I had expected, so that was fab....and the rickenbacker shipping box was cool...I felt like "RALPHIE" FROM THE CHRISTMAS STORY when he opens his Red Rider BB gun.The case was so much nicer than it looks in pictures. It was a lot smaller than I had expected,I knew it was a short scale guitar but I was like "man..this thing is tiny".I had never actually saw or played a 325 ric.Upon opening the case I nearly fainted from the beauty of the Jetglo finish.Baby was in black for sure that night. It was so stunning(mirror like) I couldn't bring myself to pick it up at first, but that lasted about...ummm...6 seconds haha.I picked it up and the first thing I noticed was how light it was.I gave it a complete inspection, looking for any flaws...there were none what-so-ever !!Now I plugged it in to my fender blues junior. And plunked out a few tuning notes and said eewww...horribly out of tune, cool sound though. So I got my tuner out and tuned her up.and tried it again, ewwww, even worse now.I repeated this about a million times and nothing helped. The instrument would not stay in tune. But when I could jangle out a few notes and chords before it sunk hoplesly out of tune...wow,what a sound, totally beatles chime and jangle.A couple of other concerns were the strings really stiff, the action, very high, lots of fret buzz and for the few seconds it decided to stay in tune...the overall intonation was soo bad I wanted to smash my new "Ric" on the concrete!! Haha don't worry folks ,if you look at the ratings I gave this instrument you will know how the story turns out.The First thing I did the next day was go and get some new strings,I decided on d'addario chromes (12's).I changed the stock ric strings and I instantly noticed a change,It held its pitch much better and the action was much better too,Next I lowered the action quite a bit, this helped alot too, next I did the intonation, and to my suprise it wasnt off that bad.But when I played any chords it sounded horrible. So i took it in for repair,he said it just needed a set up.When I got it back from setup it played much better but the intonation was still kind of weird. He lowerd the nut quite a bit and adjusted both truss rods a bit. There was still some fret buzz here and there too.I told him that I wasn't totally happy and we discussed my issues.I didn't like the fret buzz and I wasn't happy with the intonation. He said that both of these things (the intonation and the buzz)could be from the pickups being too high and the magnetic pull drawing the strings down.He said that he had lowered the pickups to there maximum, but they were still being pulled and needed to be lower. So when I got home I decided to do some experimenting.I noticed that the reason the pickups were still so high was because of the rubber mounting grommets.I took them out and wow.Instant fix.And it only took about a half hour.My ric now plays in tune,it stays in tune,no buzz, the action is nice and low.It now plays perfectly. The neck was a little small but it didn't take half as long as I thought it would. My friends call my ric "excalibur" because I am the only one that got used to it so fast.I Now use pyramid flatwounds, but when I can't afford the pyramids I still use d'addario flatwounds(great strings) but the pyramids play just a little better on rics. This solution might come in handy for all you current and future ric 325 owners. But be very careful how tight u tighten the screws when reinstalling the pickups without the mounting grommet! If you do it to tight, the screws holding the pickup cover onto the pickups (they pertrude on the bottom) can damage the finish ! so be careful and warn all of you guitar techs about the problem so they don't over tighten if you ever take you axe in for repair .I gave this guitar a ten in all aspects because once setup and mounting grommets were removed...it now plays incredible.

Like other RIC instruments, the quality of the craftsmanship shines through. However, some quirks with this particular model. Struggled to get it properly intonate it. The action was a bit high and lowering caused buzzing. Turned the truss rods and finally got it to an acceptable action. The bridge mount was placed too close to the fret board thus not allowing the 4th, 5th and 6th enough distance to intonate. Noticed that this plate is designed to be moved. It tends to go out of tune easily. The sound is the classic Lennon/Beatles sound. Play it through a Vox and you won't want to put it down.
