Let me tell you something about this amp

I went to my best friends house a couple months ago because he called me about this new amp he bought. He told me to bring my pedalboard and ESP ltd AX (EMG 81-81 with gain boost afterburner). After 45 minutes of hogging this amp, I told him that I was gonna own one too... So I went out and emptied my savings account for one of these. IT WAS THE BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT! =] I scoop the mids, and run a Boss HM-2 or MT-2 with a holy grail reverb and small clone, Dunlop KFKQZ1 for boost, and a crybaby from hell with skullbusters tuned to drop-c, and it gives me that perfect metal sound... Like Megadeth, Metallica, Lamb of God, and COB all combined. And if you use the distortion that comes with the amp, and you bring out your bass, boost your mids, and back off the treble, you get that classic "Black Sabbath - Paranoid" sound, and with the treble brought out and the bass backed off, you get a "KISS - Strutter" kinda sound. Its such a great amp, and its cheap too =] I recently used it for a small coffee house, and it pwned! You keep the tone even when the volume is barely past one! Whats also great about it is you can esily transfer to bigger gigs with a mic, or some cabs, without hassle. I came back from a battle of the bands thing at my school, and played the main theatre (457 seats), and it was the loudest amp there =] haha, and my sister just said its great for the ska band she plays in if you push back the treble and bass, bring out the mid, and turn up the reverb! =] overall, its an awesome amp, and even if it comes down to this or your rent, you'll look at this amp as you pass out in the back of your '72 C-10 longbed and smile. Its totally worth it

So Far So Good

Picked it up 3 weeks ago because of a last minute outdoor festival show that came up on May 2nd and I have not set my mind yet on an good new all around tube set-up for my Fall lineup....So far so good in terms of large room rehearsals with the band. Running an AMSE Strat and Digitech RP500 with it and it actually sounds quite good running the effects through the clean channel. Our other guitarist is running his AMSE Strat (with Texas Specials) through a nice Engl all tube amp and has commented that there is not a lot of difference in the room between our respective sounds when playing rythm; the clean channel is crystal clear and sounds great; he assumed it was a tube amp when he joined the rehearsals last week. The lead channel is a bit weak (completely sucks in high gain IMHO) but with the gain turned way back, you can get a decent tone and use it as a boost for leads if your base tone is working for you. Now lets see how it sounds in a few weeks on a outdoor stage, miked, through the PA.

It Actually Has TONE!

I was looking for a combo amp for smaller venues and to take to practice. Just got tired of lugging a half stack all the time. I looked at all the tube amps, and just could not justify the expense.

The guy at the music store told me about this amp. Being a victim of Crate Amps not having any bass or any tone at all, I was a skeptic. He got me a Les Paul and I plugged in. I messed around and started dialing it in and I was AMAZED! There it was! TONE! I thought that had died in the late 70's! I got beautiful base response, beautiful highs, and the mid-range control actually worked!

I went dirty with it, and for the type music I do with the band, the distortion was GREAT! The reverb unit is good as well.

I took it home and plugged in an old Marshall footswitch I had. It worked the channels like I was hoping, and left the reverb alone.

This is a good little amp. Much lighter than my 100 watt Tube head and cab. It doesn't have the tube tone, but it has a better tone than anything else I have heard or tried that is solid state.

I think you would be wise to give it a try. If you do metal or shred, you probably won't like it, but if you do anything else, you will!

Lots of power with good sound

The tones out of this are really nice. The clean comes up a tad weak but sounds great. The drive is nice and heavy; kind of a dark yet powerful sound behind them. The reverb sounds great. The tuner is always nice. I use a GNX3000 guitar workstation. It sounds very good, but at higher volumes the sound shrills a bit. I believe this to be a reverb problem in my basement. Overall this amp has great value, decent tone, and power that might make your head hurt in the end.

I bought this amp looking for a lot power but with a good price, and this thing didn't let me down. I got home and plugged in my guitar and it just ripped! You can get any sound out of this amp from NOFX to Metallica. I highly recommend to a musician who needs a solid affordable amplifier.
