200 watts come courtesy of the Valve-Dynamic power section, which combines the warmth, feel, and character of power tubes with the durability of a MOSFET power amp. 2 - 12" Celestion G12P-80 (Seventy 80) speakers provide crisp, cutting tone. The clean channel has a boost option, while the gain channel lets you choose between classic and modern voicings. 16 - 24-bit digital effects, spring reverb, dual 3-band EQs, effects loop with level controls, and a line out round out the features of this powerful, expressive combo amp. Includes 4-button footswitch.

Great gobs of metal Batman!!

THE POSTITIVES: Nice clean tones, very warm tube feel thanks to the preamp tube. Great rhythm distortion on Gain 1. Gain 2 - holy cow, very aggressive and punchy. You do not need a distortion pedal of any kind for this thing. Just what I was looking for. This amp is loud, very loud. Came with a four button footswitch, a big plus in my opinion. Speaker outputs are a big plus to run extra cabs if you need it.

NEGATIVES: Weight is always an issue no matter what and this amp is no different. But for a great sounding metal amp, I think I can just get me a two wheel dolly or start lifting weights again(I'll opt for the dolly!!) Randall probably could have put casters on it to help.

OVERALL: This amp is great. I won't use any of the effects stuff because I like a straight up amp - which is why I bought the version without all the digital effects. I will probably end up buying a 2 x 12 cab for this to make it a "half stack". Ease of portability over a true 4 x 12.

BOTTOM LINE: If you are looking for a great sounding metal amp, this is it!!!

Great Amp

I rarely like to write a review so soon after getting something but, after having this amp a week, I am totally sold on it and the quality the folks at Randall are putting out. I purchased the RX120D (120 watt SS head and 4x12 cab) about a year ago and was happy with it, but I missed that tube warmth. So, I saved my money and bought this amp. I'm glad I did.

First, the only bad thing (and this is subjective)about this amp is that the effects seem a little weak. The reverbs are good, but everything else is slightly better than nothing.

Everything else about the amp is great. It does sound warm and punchy, just like a tube amp. The clean channel sounds nice and warm and the boost gives just enough grit. The gain channels will satisfy most needs. If you play metal of any kind you will still need a pedal. I ran my Boss MT 2 through the clean channel and it was sick.

I played it out last weekend and had no problems with the amp not getting out or cutting off past a certain volume level. I ran my PODxt Live through it (through the effect rerutn) and it never skipped a beat. With 200 watts it will be enough for most. I even used it to power my 4x12 cab and the results were, to put it mildly, quite loud. And, as someone else pointed out, you have plenty of bottom end.

It has the tone and power to do what amps that cost twice as much do. If you are looking to move past the sterile sound of solid state amps without going broke, this amp is for you.

I got my Randall abaout 10 months ago. I have used it only as a practice amp. At only around half volume, I was wearing earplugs. I have not yet tried it at higher levels, however it's such a pleasure to use because there are soooooo many ways to customize it and make it fit your personal settings. The footswitch is also great. Note: Make sure that the outlet you're using isn't occupied. This can cause buzz. Overall, this amp is really great, if you're looking for a great sounding amp that can go very very loud, its absolutely worth getting.

I bought this amp a few weeks ago and I cant be happier with it. It has sufficient distortion on the gain channel and amazing clean on the clean channel. I was surprised most about how good the clean sounded. I was sum what disappointed by the built in effects but I consider the built in effects as a bonus, just need to buy a nice effects pedal. It is also verryy bassy, it will rattle everything in the house. BUY THIS AMP!!!!
