The Randall MTS Series Mr. Scary Guitar Preamp is the module that we've all been waiting for! It's the patented Lynch heavy rhythm and lead tone of the Dokken and Lynch Mob era. It has similar voicing to that of the Randall Brahma preamp with additional gain and punch. The standard 80's high gain tone with tight low end and impressive gain.

You choose the tone! With 14 modules to choose from and more in the works, having a new amp is as simple as plugging in a new module. Start with as few as one, or as many as you like and have all your favorite tones right at your fingertips. All modules can be used for the RM4 preamp, RM combos and RM heads. All modules utilize the same panel layout, which includes Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble and Master controls.

A bright switch is included directly under each Bass control. Each preamp module houses two 12AX7 tubes that can be easily changed or replaced. Use the thumbscrew to remove or secure each module to the front panel of every MTS amplifier.

not so bad....

Experience w/product: I have used it

I got a chance to plug a new esp ltd strat with EMG's into this module in a music store with a randall 100 watt head. Overall I was impressed with the sound of all three modules I heard. unlike the randall ultra module, which has a very full dynamic range (lots of highs and lows) like a rectifier, this module was very tight like lynch's sound with dokken or a brown sound off of a 1984 album from a different guitarist. It had a little more high end and drive than the brahma but only very, very slightly so. It had a good amount of gain but the kind of sound that a modern metal guy may be interested in. Neither module was thin or pearcing. I'm not sure I'd get both mods... one or the other. The skull knobs were a really cool feature but the chins would bang against each other if you ever needed to adjust the knobs where they faced each other. (maybe consider making the skull knobs alittle smaller).
