great pedal, very versatile, a little weak. just to give some perspective on drive levels... the "high gain" setting is pretty close if not the equivalent of a boss super overdrive sd-1. better tone, but not much gain. the tube you will probably want to replace, I chose a Mullard pre-amp tube, very happy with it. Overall a great addition to your arsenal, but for modern rock you may want a stronger pedal to assist.

The Perfect match

WOW. Just bought this beast to get my fender super reverb some distortion, and man is this amazing. Theres tubes in the machine, so it just makes it unbeatable. You got the true by pass, the rythmm channel, and the lead chanel. Turning the drive 1 knob up to about 3 and level 1 knob up to 10 and a few other adjustments, i got the sound ive been dreaming of. If your thinking of buying an amplifier, buy one with a nice clean tone like a fender, then add on this tone bone, and youll love it. Its not just for cleanish distortion either. If you switch onto chanel 2 and floor the distortion you get a gnarly tone for shredding. Also, one tweak of a knob makes the pedal sound completely different, so it takes about 5 mintues to dial in the tone you seek, but once youve found it, yo got it for good. All in all and amazzzzzing pedal, thats worth every penny.

Amazing Pedal

So I just got this pedal and I must say that it is absolutely amazing. Two separate and fairly distinct tones with independent controls really allow you to dial in your perfect tones for rhythm or solos. The tube circuitry makes this a lot warmer than any other OD or DIST pedal I've ever owned. My only beef is that the pedal can be a little noisy at extreme gain settings and I wish the other two tone switches were like the mid boost switch with independent channel control. Overall great pedal. I can't wait to play my first show with it.

This is the best money I've spent yet on equipment. Had it about 5 months. I play a lite ash Strat through the trimode and feed it into a Crate Powerblock set up "clean" and into a Crate 1x12 cab that I put a Vintage 30 in. Poor man's super portable tube tone rig and it is great. The trimode becomes the preamp and feeds great controllable tube tone of your choice to a clean amp setup. I agree that the mids could use their own pot control rather that a 3 position sw but other than that you have total control over 3 channels - clean (bypass), rhythm and lead. I don't use the insert, as your other pedals only work on the lead. I do get a little hum when the tube is in the line - bypass is true bypass and so is hum free. This is only minor and you can't hear it when your playing so I just kick it to bypass between songs. Great pedal - solid as a rock - can't wait to try it with a real tube amp behind it.

Incredible depth!!!!

I also have the Radial Hot British Tonebone pedal and have really enjoyed it. I did quite a bit of research before I bought the TriMode distortion pedal. While you can end up overlapping some of the sounds with both Tonebone pedals, each has a host of unique tones...and that is why I bought the TriMode...to compliment what I get with the Hot British. From a general "tone" perspective, the sounds that you can get with the TriMode are thicker and warmer than what you get with the Hot British pedal. They are extremely well suited to classic rock, blues, and fusion. As it's name implies, the Hot British has a little "hotter" overall gain sound than the TriMode...still, the TriMode does well for hard rock too. The clarity of the tones that you get with the TriMode are sensational and a little adjustment goes a long, long way with this pedal. Small adjustments yield fascinating tonal changes...making the exploration/experimentation of this pedal a serious joy. To an extent, each time I sit down with it, I feel a little like a mad scientist...albeit a guitar version. I also enjoy the three "modes" (TriMode), allowing for clean (bypass), rhythm, and lead tones for each of the channels. This is a great for a live gig where you really only need three basic tones....because you can set the pedal up and "GO". In the past, I've had to have two separate distortion/overdrive pedals in sync to pull this off. The TriMode greatly simplies this scenario for me. Yes...the pedal is expensive. That is true. I must admit that prior to buying it, seeing the "star" name endorsements kind of put me off...int he sense that who wants to pay for that kind of marketing cost? However, the money ended up being well worth it. My only "gripe" is that the unit isn't nearly as quiet as Radial claims...but then again, that is what my Rocktron Hush IIC is for.
