i purchased this after owning a metal zone, ds-1, and grunge pedal, and i was sort of looking for a metal zone type pedal. this is certainly no metal pedal however it blows every other pedal ive ever owned away. now as the previous review stated, it sounds weak and terrible through the loop on tube amps. it is amazing before the amp. i do use a soldano reverb-o-sonic so i definately have different sound but it is a stunning pedal. buy it...really.

As I just realized today, this pedal sounds TERRIBLE (to my ears at least), in the effects loop of my amp. However, infront of the amp, when it pushes to tubes, it sounds amazing. So please, before you give it terrible reviews, at least play infront of a tube amp. Odds are it won't sound good on a solid-state.

So I made the mistake of buying this before actually trying it out. The descriptions given seemed like it was what I was looking for... I was wrong.

I play anything from sludgy slow metal to faster metal, experimental stuff, rock, indy... and I can not find a use for this pedal for ANY style. absolutely hate the tone. HATE.

I tried it out on a 70s ampeg, a 70s sunn and a bogner. I was very disappointed with the tone it gave me on all of them SO I'm truly surprised that this many people love it.

It is built like a tank I'll give them that but try it out before you decide to purchase it... that was my mistake, I'm taking this thing back.

Built like a friggin tank. Not really a classic rat tone, but then again, that's why it's the turbo rat. Much higher output then the other rats. You can get probably 10 tones from this pedal. Everything from a light ALMOST overdrive sound, to a pretty good fuzz. Also does heavy stuff fairly well, however I definetly wouldn't call it a metal pedal. Not a lot of low end, but a lot of highs. Amazing for leads, and once messing with the filter knob a little bit, great for rhymthm. The learning curve for the filter knob takes a day or two, but if you have decent ears, you'll learn fast. Definetly has its own sound.
