After reading numerous reviews and viewing sound clips, I decided to purchase the Peavey Vypyr 30 30W 1x12 Guitar amp combo. I have heard of some QC issues but have not experienced any serious enough to regret the purchase. Im a tube amp guy with 3 vintage/boutique amps. Great tones lurk in the vypyr. Treat it like a computer and not a road-gig amp and it will shine as a practice or rehersal amp in a full band context. I have effects pedals that are more expensive than this little tone monster. Will not buy the foot switch cause that would defeat the purpose of this fantastic bargin.......Play mostly clean, no need to be switching all over the place. A couple of amp settings and Im good to go. Best bang for the dollar..... treat with care and it will inspire.....

I've never been a Peavey fan because my dad said they sucked. Well they dont because I just bought a Vypyr 30 and I love it. Maybe back in the day they were'nt good amps, but Peavey is A OK in my book!! I have spent hours and hours playing the Vypyr and will probably buy another one like one of the tube ones. I'm gonig to start playing in my first band soon and I think Ill need a little more power.

This is a great amp! I bought it for mobility purposes. I switched from a marshall head with a 4x12 cab because I got tired of hauling it to gigs and wanted a more bluesy sound with effects. I usually play this amp on about 5. The bass end is a little lacking, I thought it was a speaker issue, so I dropped a celestion in, and it fixed that. This amp is surprisingly loud and articulate. There are many features to play with. The foot controler is a must have. Go for the Sanpera II because the Sanpera I gets a little cumbersome when accessing your presets. Plus the II has a tuner on it(the most valuable pedal on any board). All of the presets are customizable, so you can really get the sound you want. I put it side by side with a Fender 2x12 tube and matched the sound perfectly for a fourth of the price. Haven't had any problems with it locking up. It must have been on the earlier versions. I really didn't expect this kind of sound from a 30 watt amp.

I needed an amp--fast. I am a broke college student, and this is the one I got. I tested in the store--it had what I needed until I could get a better amp. But I haven't gotten another because I have fallen in love. Don't be fooled--this isn't just a metal amp. I play ambient improv, indie rock, and some experimental music a la animal collective--the clean sounds and range of effects is really nice. I gig with this as my main amp all the time. And the 30 watts blows away my 70 watt amp in loudness. While it looks puny and embarrasing beside the stacks, I still play at the same volume--and when you run it over a PA, who cares?
